McLaren Vale is an area just outside Adelaide towards the coast which is renowned for the wine it produces. With 76 cellar doors to visit, it's worth spending at least a day exploring, if not a weekend. And it's not just wine, the local foodies are passionate about what their kitchens produce.
When you've eaten and sipped your fill, there are many other things to do including bushwalking, heading to the surf beach, following the Art Trail, going fishing, horse-riding, cycling or just sitting on a cliff watching the sunset.

Doing what: Small-Group McLaren Vale Food and Wine Tour from Adelaide
The tour was very relaxed, giving us enough time at each winery. The wineries generally gave us the chance to choose wines rather than just having a limited, preselected group to taste. What was especially pleasant was the progressive meal, with a course at each winery, so that wine tasting was not overwhelming on an empty stomach. And the food was all delicious! The driver/guide Ross was very cheerful and made all of us comfortable. The small size of the group (12) was perfect to get to talk to an international group of people. Great day!

An exceptional tour full of interest. The "local" knowledge of the guide was excellant, above that of tours undertaken in other countries. Highly recommended..
Practical Info
McLaren Vale Winery is 40 minutes by road from Adelaide and only minutes drive from the coast. The best way to see the region is by organised tour or hiring a car.
