3 Days in Alice Springs: Suggested Itineraries
You've landed bang in the bull's-eye of the enormous continent of Australia. Yep, you're in Alice Springs. So what'll it be? Museums? Wildlife? Ballooning? May we suggest all of the above in this tailored 3-day itinerary?
Day 1: Getting to know Alice Springs
One of the easiest ways to acquaint yourself with a new city is to take a nifty tour of the highlights, and a half-day bus tour will do just that. In Alice Springs, highlights include spectacular views of the West MacDonnell ranges, the School of the Air, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and that famous outback landscape. Once you've got the lay of the land, get independent and spend the afternoon on a hop-on hop-off bus tour so you can go back and check out the places that caught your interest.
Day 2: Rock it
No visit to Alice Springs would be complete without a trip to the famous natural wonder of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Set aside a whole day to really get to know the awe-inspiring ancient spirit and wonder of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. With a one-day tour you can take time to follow mysterious walking trails and see the mighty Rock at sunset. Complete your outback experience with a sunset buffet dinner.
Day 3: Balloons and bikes
Start your final day up in the sky on a sunrise ballooning adventure. You'll watch your hot air balloon inflate in the pre-dawn light before you're cloud-bound for sunrise. Drift over the charismatic, barren landscape and spot wildlife from the air, before slowly coming back to earth - for a light champagne breakfast, of course.
Alice Springs can have some pretty rugged scenery, so why not roll with it and spend your last afternoon ripping up the dust on a quad bike? Just outside of Alice Springs you'll find Undoolya Station, the oldest working cattle station in the Northern Territory. Here you can jump on a quad bike and be guided across the station over bush tracks, dry riverbeds and alongside mountain ranges. Wild, huh?!
Perfect views. Wind speed was good therefore, generally pleasant. Maybe will be a little chilly for some. Also, trying to get into the basket was fairly easy. However, some might have problems as the basket was pretty high. I am sure the pilot will aid you if needed. Full of humour those guys. I will definitely recommend this activity. :)
