Doing what: Private Tour: Petra Day Trip from Amman
First off, Petra is amazing. However, if you go to Petra and look at the prices it costs to enter, have a horse ride etc, you will feel very cheated indeed! We realised we probably paid 3-4 times higher than if we had taken a car through our hotel and paid the entrance fees at Petra. However, the guide at Petra was amazing and it was great to have the whole trip organized in advance and all under one roof. I guess it is pot luck with the driver you get to take you there. Ours was an obnoxious bore who we had to endure for 3 hours there and 3 hours back. If I were to go back again, I would check in to one of the hotels at Petra and find my own way around Petra city. Petra is amazing and definitely a must do! You get hassled a bit by little kids begging, but they are so cute your are compelled to give them some dollars.

Doing what: Private Half Day Jerash and Amman City Sightseeing Tour
The driver picked us up on time and spoke good English. We loved Jerash and had a good guide, loved the chariot race and Roman legion show. I felt that everytime we passed something interesting in Amman our driver was on his cell phone. I guess they have 2 jobs.

Doing what: Private Half Day Jerash and Amman City Sightseeing Tour
We travelled throughout the Middle East and thought these were among the best preserved Roman ruins we saw. The gladiator show is billed as the only one actually held in a real hippodrome--extra charge. DO note that the driver is NOT your guide, and if you want a guide you will need to be prepared to pay a fee. Our driver selected an excellent guide for us. Not much to see in Amman City, however, so you might want to do that on your own.

Doing what: Private Half Day Tour to Desert Castles - Qasr Amra, Qasr Kharaneh, Qasr Azraq
Very interesting. The castles, completely different from one another, are outside the normal tourists' routes. Even our kind driver did not know them! We got to see the beautiful panorama of Jordan.

Doing what: Private Half Day Tour to Desert Castles - Qasr Amra, Qasr Kharaneh, Qasr Azraq
The drive was great, the castles very interesting, but the driver spoke no English. He was great but the time could have been better if we could have communicated better.

Doing what: Private Tour: Petra Day Trip from Amman
Although this is an amazing site, it ends up being extremely expensive, and the original listing does not let you know that. The guide only did one third of the tour; we had to pay again for the second third. We had to book three different modes of transportation to do the trip, another WEE detail they neglected to mention. The horse and buggy trip was dangerous and frightening, I seriously thought we were going to be hurt. In North America, the driver would have been arrested for cruelty to animals. We paid twice for a guide that gave almost no service, as our transportation kept him from interacting with us. I wish we had known that. Our guide did make the trip there and back very comfortable though, and stopped regularly for us to stretch and have a drink. He was sort of the saving grace to the whole day.

Doing what: Private Half Day Tour to The Dead Sea
The restaurant there was quite terrible, crowded, mass food and the smells of bad cooking kept us from eating. We left hungry. The beach was really rocky, I wish I had brought beach shoes. I could not keep upright in the water, so had to spend my time on the beach. I could have skipped this stop, and would not do it again.

The place was sensational and having a personal guide who was a local helped tremendously - I can thoroughly recommend this option.

Doing what: Private Tour: Petra Day Trip from Amman
Petra was my second trip arranged in Jordan first was to Mount Nebo and the Dead Sea. Petra is a must see place in Jordan. My driver and companion for the whole day was waiting for me in the hotel. He was very professional, with a great English and knowledge about Jordan. The trip in the car passed very quickly. Unfortunately the driver is not allowed to enter with you in Petra and you are given a tourist guide who spoiled my day. The guy was rushing, and only waiting for the tip. He also promised the driver to inform him about my return but he never did so the driver was really worried. I would have done much better if I visited Petra without the tourist guide. He is included in the trip but you can always refuse to take him just like I refused taking a short trip on a horse. Fortunately, I only had to stay with the guide till we reached the Treasury which took us 40 minutes and then I discovered Petra on my own. It's a great place to visit but those who watched Indiana Jones movie might be a bit disappointed as the caves are empty inside. Nevertheless I would recommend this trip and have given the highest rate because the organization was perfect it's not agency's fault that Petra has such an awful guides. My driver was a great companion and I got to know from him lots about Jordan. I am sure I will be back there for longer and will see Petra by night.

Doing what: Private Half Day Tour to Madaba, Mount Nebo and The Dead Sea
This was one of the best trips I have ever had. I travelled alone but enjoyed it a lot. Jordan is a great country and Jordanian hospitality is amazing. Before I left I read a lot about Jordan, culture, dress code and habits. I learnt some Arabic phrases and numbers which was much appreciated by Jordanians. I booked 2 trips with Viator and both were great! I saw a breath taking view from the top of Mount Nebo and enjoyed swimming in the Dead Sea. You cannot miss it! This is so much fun. What really made my day, was the driver who was a great companion through the whole tour, very professional, patient answering my questions and with a great attitude towards the tourists. I would definitely recommend this trip to everyone. Remember that apart from Petra, there are other beautiful places in Jordan - the more you see, the better you get to know this country, its people and culture. Shukran thank you in Arabic to Viator and local travel agency.

Doing what: Private Tour: Petra Day Trip from Amman
Very glad we did a private tour and not a massive group tour. The cost of the trip went to hotel pick up and drop off, transport to Petra and entry to Petra guide included. There was no where near enough time at Petra and the trip to Petra took a very long time due to frequent stops for the driver to have a cigarette or show you a tourist shop where prices are significantly elevated. The car was small and the driver was tall so the person behind the driver had no leg room for the entire trip. On the positive side , we could stop for photos whenever we wanted and we went to a good little restaurant for schwarmas on the way home. Driver was nice enough.
