Beautiful city and comfortable bus trip. The Ghent portion had been deleted to allow more time in Bruges. Tour guide orientation should have been more complete and simple map of city provided with recommended "must see" city sights. If the orientation were more complete and map provided would have easily been a "5."
They put us on the wrong bus to start with and made us move to another bus. And the tour guide rubbed salt into the wound by telling a really bad joke that we were on the wrong tour. The entire bus was upset right from the start.
We have joined Viator trips quite a few times, both in Italy and France, in the last 3 years but the trip to Bruges is the most disappointing one! It was TOO commercial/touristic to begin with, plus the tour guide wasn't great - as soon as we had arrived at Bruges, he rushed us to take the boat cruise. My friend is physically challenged and we had a hard time catching up with him. He didn't even stop to see if everyone could follow him. finally, we just gave up and did our own things. The rain didn't help either and the 3-hour + drive each way for such a touristic town is totally not worth it!
A delightful medieval town. A very long journey there and back with no toilet stops en route. Not suitable for elderly folk who would find the coach toilet a problem. Bruges deserves a longer visit but if this is your only opportunity go for it.
Bruges is a nice small town and its beautiful. However, I find that the traveling time to and from is really too long.
We had a great day thanks to our driver Michele and our tour guide Tina. Bruges was absolutely beautiful Jan and Jerry.
This is my second day trip to Bruges. The first time I went from Paris and that trip was better than this one. This trip dropped us off by the big fountain. It is not nearly as a magical entrance to the old part of the city as the other time when we entered from the other side, more towards the convent. The icing on the cake was when our guide was 40 minutes late getting back to the bus because her "watch broke down." We weren't crazy about her to begin with and then that!? We were happy not to have the same guide on any of our other excursions.
The drive to Bruges was rather long but well worth it, as Bruges is a lovely town with a lot to see. We felt that our guide could have been more informative and not in such a hurry to drop us off at the Canal cruise boat. The cruise was well worth it, and was a great way to see the town.
It drizzled the day we were visiting -- but who cared! Fabulous architecture, choices galore for eating and shopping, and great travel arrangements -- nothing to "dampen" this trip.
Trip was very crowded. 90+ people. We had very little information about the town when we were off the bus. Guides were nice but never available for questions either on speaker or gone. Need at least another 1-2 hours in Bruges.
The drive was wonderful and the tour gude was very informative. However at Brugge we saw very little and we wold like to have been guided at least for one more hou.
Good trip to do if you want to experience medieval Europe, Bruges is a fantastic preserved city and chocolates are great. But the tour should include the boat ride also as it is the best option to experience Bruges. The guide was knowledgeable and accommodating. Tour skips Ghent in winters - this is a bit negative otherwise a very enjoyable full day tour.
