A very well organized tour. It was a long day in two halves, Windmills in the morning and the rest in the afternoon. Very informative and enjoyable.
The trip was memorable and worth its value.
The tour operator had ensured that we get to all the places mentioned and at the same
spend some time there as well.
Volendam Cheese making and Marken Clog Shoe making presentation were of highest
The guide gave us a vivid description of the route, places and history of Netherlands.
We were happy to part of the trip and we enjoyed.
got to see so much. but it was very rushed and we never felt we really had time to take it all in. though it was an overcast day it was very enjoyable.
it was expected to be a private tour, but in the end it was a usual huge group of people and we mostly saw only tourist places with souvenir shops, nothing else. I expected some interactive experience, but nothing.
It was an enjoyable tour especially the first half. The tour guide was a nice lady with a sense of humor. However I learnt from a friend that zaanse schans has a cheese factory and a clog factory in the vicinity which we could have visited instead of going to Volendam and instead we would have had ample time in zaanse schans. We had very minimal time there to the extent that we didn't have time to go into any of the mills.
The second part of the tour was a total failure. The guide wasn't so good or interesting. The bus was not GPS equipped. However delft and madorudam were enjoyable. On the other hand the Haag was uninteresting and a waste of time.
Next time I will find my way on my own and visit zaanse schans and madorudam
I would have preferred to spend the morning in delft with time enough to go to the Vermeer Museum and have lunch. The windmills were confusing, there was no direction on where to go or what to do, so wandered paths aimlessly. Madurodam was easily eliminated from the tour as after 15 minutes, I was done.
A packed tour on a tight schedule. There was a double decker full of people and visited so many places. We never had enough time to see anything properly. It was very hard the keep the whole group together. There were people left behind each destination. Felt so bad we didn't wait because of time.
The locations we went to were lovely but a bit commercial. The bus was comfortable. I understand the construction at the vendor's location made loading and unloading a bit tricky - no problem.
However, the tour guide was the worst I have traveled with. We have been on 3 Viator tours and a number of others arranged through our river cruise company and several we arranged through other companies. ALL have been very good. Primarily she was controlling and non-informative. We had no options but to follow her as there was no information about where and when we would be arriving, leaving, etc. One older couple from India was left behind because they could not keep up and did not have an advance option of moving ahead on their own or how to find the group once they fell behind. She controlled the exit process not for safety, but requiring everyone to exit by her, through only the front door so she could receive the strongly solicited tips. She required us to stay in the commercial venues the tour set up because we did not know our new meeting place or time. I felt her attitude was condescending and manipulative.
Good value for a 6 hour tour outside Amsterdam. The tour guide is knowledgable and give you just enough time to browse around. It's not too exhaustive, surprisingly good lunch (you pay you own) at Volden. Wish we could have slightly longer time at Zaanse Schans Windmills - there's much to see and we were rushing in the end. But it's good value which includes a comfortable bus ride, you see the sceneries, you understand a little bit more about Holland and it includes entry tickets. It takes you back to Amsterdam promptly at 3pm, give you enough time to browse around the city or hit another museum. Highly recommend.
Met the tour at the tour office. Left right on time on a double decker coach. Our guide (Diana?) was very informative both historically and geographically. First we drove over a dijk to Marken. Here we walked around houses in the small village, I did feel a bit uncomfortable as we were almost in their gardens. Then we went to the Clog factory and watched Bart make a clog. He too was very informative and funny. We spent time at the gift shop before walking down to the waterfront to catch the boat to Volendam. We were the last boat of the season to leave and this was an extra surprise as when booking the tour it said the day before was the last boat trip. The boat trip was quick, there are toilet and refreshment facilities on board. Volendam was beautiful I so wish we went in the summer and not on a windy, rainy November day. We went to the cheese factory and heard how cheese is made, I say heard as the lady just described the process however the woman in the room (behind glass) behind us was actually making cheese. We had about 3/4 hour free time hear to get lunch, there are numerous bars, restaurants and stalls selling food. We then walked to the coach and continued to Zaanse Schans. The first impression you get when you leave the coach is an overwhelming smell of chocolate !! There is a chocolate factory here. The first windmill is free to enter however you cannot climb up. There is a windmill that costs 3 eu and you can go to the top and outside. I will warn the steps are very steep. Here we had free time to walk around. There were plenty of photo opportunities. We then returned to Amsterdam. I thoroughly enjoyed this trip.
Tour was an enjoyable day to learn the history of the Netherlands, windmills, clogs and pottery. Tour guide was great and had a very enjoyable day.
Fabulous tour. Provided an opportunity to visit the countryside and experience the Holland of old. Love the windmills!
Was the windiest day in ten years, so was denied boat ride and clog making, but noones fault and a museum trip was organised. I forget ladies name, but she was great.
We had a very good time on this tour. The only negative was that the day was a bit rushed. Perhaps it would have been better to go to less places, but have more time in each.
This would have been a great tour but our guide rushed us too much to make up time - did not get enough time to see the sights properly or to buy souvenirs - maybe would have been better if not so rushed
