Doing what: Keukenhof Gardens and Tulip Fields Tour from Amsterdam
A really great day at the Keukenhof Gardens, a theme park of flowers. Well worth a visit. The tulip field tour didn't really happen, maybe it was too late in the season, but the tour rep didn't mention anything!!

Keukenhof Gardens well worth a visit especially when tulips in season. Whole tour well organised to the gardens then plenty of time to view at own leisure.

I am biased by being a biologist and having visited Kew gardens before Keukenhof. The latter is basically a showcase for nurseries and agents so you are faced by quite symmetrical beds, rows of mostly tulips, and lots of bulbs originating from my home country South Africa (Kniphofia, Agapanthus, Zantedischia and many more). Although beautiful and well worth the visit for any gardening enthusiast I would have enjoyed a more informal garden outlay with some attempt at separating artificial from natural occuring varieties. The tour guide was competent and gave sufficient time for the tourists to photograph those areas where we could not stop. It was also still very cold and windy and I would recommend braving the crowds and visiting later in the season.

Had a lovely afternoon at The Keukenhof Gardens, well worth visiting although a little disappointed that not all the tulips were out yet. A venue worth visiting but I would recommend mid April or later to be sure all plants have flowered.

Keukenhof Gardens are worth a visit. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the Tulip Fields Tour was practically non-existent. The bus simply passes by some flower fields which are surrounding the gardens. The guides were ok but unremarkable.

Doing what: Keukenhof Gardens and Tulip Fields Tour from Amsterdam
I did 5 hours at the Keukenhof at Easter 2012. Gardens flowering nicely, tulips getting close to peaking. Just the right amount of time for a leisurely stroll, lots of photos, and a stop to eat. Clear weather but breezy and cold, so take a good coat. Note visit to Keukenhof Castle is extra as run by separate entity, which I did not know beforehand. I did not visit the castle, though you can do this easily too without increasing the amount of time at the gardens. Tour made it easy to get there, and quick thanks to a detour to avoid traffic, but apart from some light but interesting commentary on the bus did not add much, hence four stars. I was there for the gardens to this did not matter; the gardens on their own would get five stars. Tour was back in Amsterdam on time.

We went to keukenhof gardens with high hopes to see acres and acres of tulips with great splash of colours. But we were utterly disappointed, only about 5% of tulips were in bloom, rest just green. It was too early. Keukenhof gardens should not open in March.
you should have warned that it was too early for Tulips. This was the main reason for a life time experience. We feel realy let down by Viator.

Have a great day at the Keukenhof gardens. We went in early April so most tulips outdoor are not there yet! Tour guide on the bus are friendly.

We are very happy we went to the Keukenhof Gardens. We did the half day tour that started at 2:30 and we were back by 7:00. Any thing longer would have been too much for us. The bus was full but it was an easy ride and our guide provided interesting commentary along the way. The park is lovely especially on a good weather day. Unfortunately the tulip fields were no longer in bloom as it was early May but I imagine that it is also a great sight to see. Highly recommend the tour.

The tour was a must for this time of year in Amsterdam. We enjoyed the full day in the Keukenhof Gardens. We had the leisure to sit on a bench and enjoy an icecream. A half-day would be rushed so we recommend at least 3/4 day. There are so many things to see in the gardens and the maze is fun- allow time to escape. I do wish we had been there before the fields were cut. That happens right around Easter. Of course weather is a factor but I do wish more specific information was forthcoming for advance planning to see the blooming fields. The tour was enjoyable- in English. Good value. Do not buy the tulips at the gardens- as customs confiscates the bulbs.. Orders for bulbs can be placed with them..that is the thing to do.

We were about 1 1/2 weeks to late to see the tulip fields in bloom, as they had already cut off the heads, but Keukenhof was not a disappointment. The Damrak embarkation point is frustrating. Not enough staff to direct people. Very caotic. Arrive early for your tour.

Doing what: Amsterdam Super Saver 1: Keukenhof Gardens Day Trip and Amsterdam City Tour
We were directed to the wrong bus and ended up at Keukenhof Gardens in the morning and missed the Amsterdam City Tour. We were given a pass to the Hop On Hop Off Bus instead so we still got a City Tour. I was a little disappointed in Keukenhof Gardens as the tulips were pretty well gone. But that couldn't be helped as the weather in April was so warm that everything blossomed sooner.
