It's a long ferry ride for a short stay. I would suggest flying in or if you want to do the ferry ride stay longer.
excellent, wish i had prolonged my stay,2 days was too short a stay for this fabulous place.A sure must visit again,Godwilling.
Not met by transfer when we arrived at Santorini and had to organise our own. Hotel excellent. Loved exploring. Unortunately rain for most of journey and during our stay.
Santorini was beautiful, we stayed in Kamari but wish we were told hotel location prior to arrival, really wish this was a 3-day experience as the ferry and total transportation time takes up 20 hours(maybe an overnight ferry would be better), hotel was great as was the staff. Would love to go back in the near future to explore more of the island. Glad I didn't have to deal with transportation booking and overall had a great time on this trip!
Very good overall. Pickup and drop off were great. Hotel was fabulous. Only thing was the Ferry on our way to Santorini. Our tickets had no assigned seats.
Santorini is absolutely beautiful. The ease of not having to worry about transport was brilliant, all thanks to Viator. The accomodation was average, but did the job. Visiting Santorini is a MUST DO
Santorini was great but your organisation leaves a lot to be desired. We were given incorrect information and were left chaseing up our coupons for day trip. We had not reference point as it was the weekend and everything was closed. Thank godness for the concierge at our hotel because she made several phone calls and found the agent and she got our vouchers for the day trip which turned out to be a half day trip.
Trip wasn't at all what we were told it would be, it says in the write up that you have the day to yourself to explore the island and you can make up your own itinerary, but you cant! you are put on a bus and driven around and have about 45 mins in each place! so even though it says in the write up that you can do a donkey ride you actually cant because they don't give you enough time! you are on a bus with people who speak many different languages and the tour guide repeats herself in every language after everything she says which is extremely tedious. also, she doesn't let you talk to each other on the bus. when people on our bus started pointing things out to each other and generally getting excited about the trip they were told in no uncertain terms to shush and be quiet!! needless to say they were not particularly happy! not what it is advertised to be, and only had a very short time on the island after waiting for the entire group to arrive. would advise that you make your own way there rather than do it as a trip. it is very easy to get a boat there and a coach to the main city. I was very annoyed about the things we missed out on and the money we wasted. complete waste of an entire day.
I think that the island is beautiful and definitely worth doing but I would recommend taking more time to explore the islands as the ferry takes 8 hours to get there and with the 2 days you end up with very little time to explore all of the beauty on the island unless you are very ambitious with the time you do have and don't take time to relax.
The sea was very rough on our visit, which caused not only the entire boat full of tourist to vomit for 3 hours straight but it also caused us to land late on the island. This caused a strain on time as we only had 1 hour in Oia and about 20 minutes in Fira before we had to get back on the bus and go back to the boat. I can only hope that on a more smoothly run trip that the time on the island lasts longer than that If not, then I would suggest allowing tourist much more time on the island. Leaving earlier from Heraklion would be a good start. I also wish there was a more convenient way for the tour guides to communicate with people on the bus. Listening to the same description 5 different times, first in English, then Dutch, then German, then Italian, then French, etc. etc. gets extremely tiring. You start to ignore all of it after a while. Maybe a recording with headsets would be more reasonable.
For those wanting a quick trip it worked very well. Be aware though that the ferry trip is long 8-9 hours. The transfers at each end were handled very efficiently. However, it would have been helpful to know the location of the hotel prior to the day of departure for planning purposes, especially given the limited time available i.e. transport to the main attractions Fira and Oia was necessary and bus timetables were restrictive.
