Doing what: Waitomo Caves and 'The Lord of the Rings' Hobbiton Movie Set Day Trip from Auckland
The Waitomo caves were beautiful and awe inspiring, loved the boat ride, the glow worms made it all look so otherworldly. Hobbiton was wonderful, the tour guide was fun and full of interesting facts. We got a lot of photos at the hobbit houses and The Green Dragon pub. The scenery was spectacular

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
This was a very educational and scenic experience to see and learn about some of the many fascinating and unusual geological effects of New Zealand, the local aboriginal culture, thermal hot springs, travel through a glow worm cave, visit a working sheep farm and enjoy a nice lunch along the way.
Its a very long day, but it goes quickly.

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
The seasoned traveller will be surprised to find that the day trip to the Waitomo Caves and Rotorua is a long one, but well worth the effort. You can choose to get off at Hobbiton if you wish or continue on and be treated to a guided tour of a New Zealand farm. At the Agrodome you get very close t

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and 'The Lord of the Rings' Hobbiton Movie Set Day Trip from Auckland
Overall, I would recommend this tour for somebody who is short on time, but wanted a good overview of the North Island countryside. Yes, the two sites are kind of cheesy, but they were pretty cool. The driver, Kenny, was great and kept us well informed and entertained.

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
The bus was clean and comfortable, and the driver very charming and informative. I enjoyed the tour. It would have been perfect if they had omitted the Agrodome altogether, and given us more time in Rotorua. It looked like a really interesting place, but we only had time to do a drive-through tour of the town before going to view the Maori performance. Overall, a good tour, but it could be better.

Doing what: Auckland to Rotorua via Waitomo Glowworm Caves One-Way Tour
Bus trip turns into fun adventure under superb leadership of driver, Paul, and his trainee, Andy. The 5-hour drive flew by as Paul provided facts and stories about New Zealand. The riders played “The Game” to test retention of information provided by Paul and generally entertain the group. The Caves were fascinating. Needed more shopping time and the photos are too expensive.

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and 'The Lord of the Rings' Hobbiton Movie Set Day Trip from Auckland
The caves are cool, wish you could take pictures inside. The Hobbiton movie set was the best, and be sure to bring a good camera, the views are fantastic.

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and 'The Lord of the Rings' Hobbiton Movie Set Day Trip from Auckland
The tour tried to do too much in one day. The long drive to the caves and then back to Hobbiton made most of our day spent driving. I think having a tour to Hobbiton (for a shorter time), would have been more beneficial. I enjoyed the caves, but I was really there to see Hobbiton.

Good trip, some nice stops besides the cave, the cave itself is worth of money paid, - so highly recommended!

Operators were great, experience was amazing, indescribable. Even though it was cold outside and definitely inside it was well worth it. Could have Done with more pictures inside the cave though
