Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
A long bus trip, but we packed in a lot in 13 hours - would not have seen this much if we tried to do on our own. A lot of great commentary and insights from the driver!

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
It was a good trip, but I had some concerns about the quality of the supplied food, and I felt there was not enough time to take photos.

Good tour, especially if you don't mind travelling for a long distance and seeing lots of NZ country side

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
This tour was done very professionally. The driver came right on time (actually even earlier and was patiently waiting for us) to pick us up from the hotel. The driver on the bus ride to all the different places, e.g., Caves, Rotorua, was knowledgeable and pleasant and kept right on schedule. The Caves by themselves were nice but not spectacular and neither were the worms since there weren't that many of them. The trip to the farm was very nice and the shearing part was very interesting and well run. The hotsprings were spectacular and a great experience in spite of the rain (and drizzle, occasionally). The meals (sandwich and bottle of water) were nothing to write home about but certainly adequate. All in all, a great experience. Would recommend it to any travellers new to New Zealand.
We got a free Auckland tour for booking the Cave and Rotorua tour and took the tour the next day. The guide was an elderly gentleman who obviously know Auckland very well and was able to give us the history of many of the places we passed through. Again, impressed with the overall quality of the guide and the tour .

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and 'The Lord of the Rings' Hobbiton Movie Set Day Trip from Auckland
This trip is absolutely amazing. It's great for a quick day tour. The guide was excellent. Very knowledgable and constantly interacting with his travellers. Although, i was a bit disappointed with the Waitomo Caves tour. It is such a beautiful place and for such a short tour, and a 5 minute boat road, it's money value isn't really worth it. All in all, i loved this trip. Thanks for the experience!

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
The tour is with a guide/driver named Paul. He was amazing, full of energy, very informative and super funny. He made the day unforgettable... the glow worms are a must see, mud pools and kiwi were a bonus, plus the cultural performances was a real eye-opener to the New Zeland people. The tour is worth doing, just be prepared for a tight schedule - don't be late, and unfortunately there is no time for souvenir shopping.... nevertheless, would recommend!

This a good tour. The tour was well planned and every aspect of it was well prepared. The thermic baths are really amazing to see!!! Love the Caves too. The landscapes was pretty impressive, nothing like what we see in motreal!!!

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
Brillo. The caves were amazing, loved it. The trip to the Maori cultural place was good, but not very informative about how they use to live. They put on a good show, but didn;t really tell us much else. However, in NZ, you're bound to do more than one Maori thing, so everything else I did king of filled in the gaps. i would recommend it, though.

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
It was a great trip with one major flaw. The lunch pack picked up at the Waitomo Caves was quite OK with nice sandwiches. The pack picked up at Rotorua was a shocker with a roll that was wet and inedible. That was for the 3 hour trip back to Auckland. Apart from that the day was great.

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
Great tour - but very long day. The Waitomo Caves and glowworms were spectacular. Wish we could have had more time at the Geysers in Rotorua - to wander around the park on our own. Could have had less time at the Agrodome because we had already been to a sheep farm. The sandwich lunch was good and we appreciated the sandwich and water we got at the end of the day for the return trip.

Doing what: Waitomo Caves and Rotorua Day Trip from Auckland
Nice trip. Unfortunately I would have liked to have spent more time in Rotorua as on this tour you don't have enough time, only an hour when they recommend you spend 3 hours at the park. However being it was only a day trip and everything else that was included i understand. Less time with the sheep and more time at Rotorua would have been my choice. The glow worm cave is wonderful, though you can't take pictures inside the cave =( ... But the glow worms are beautiful... Rotorua is interesting, and you get to learn about the Maori as well. Definitely worth this trip!
