Byron Bay, just south of the Gold Coast on the east coast of Australia, has long attracted artists, surfers and hippies seeking a simpler, more laid-back lifestyle. They couldn’t keep Byron’s golden beaches, perfect surf and temperate weather all to themselves, however, and before long, the wealthy and sometimes famous caught on to the area’s divine natural beauty and richly forested hinterland.
