Really good day. Our guide 'Mr Pon' was a legend - he knew absolutely loads of facts and was very funny. The trip to the summer palace was defintely worth it, very pretty. The site you stop at in Ayutthaya itself is just a load of ruins so don't get too excited but still worth having a look and getting some pics. If you want to see some of the more impressive sites in Ayutthaya then chose another tour. River cruise back to Bangkok was the highlight though, a nice way to chill out after a early start.

Ayuttaya temples were full of Thailand's history on which our guide was very knowledgeable. He was also amenable to taking photos of couples which was nice. Our lunch on the river cruise back to Bangkok was enjoyable - sitting with people from other countries is always a pleasant experience. Would strongly recommend this tour as we learnt much about Thailand's history - Ayutthaya was once the country's capital!

The trip was fantastic. Our guide was knowledgable about all aspects of the tour. The river cruise and dinner after a day of exploring the rest of Ayutthaya capped off a very enjoyable time. Would definetely recommend.

For us it was a waste of time...
You don´t see enough from Ayutthaya, one place is only passed by bus while the guide gives the advice to take a photo from inside the bus..?!
Then you drive nearly one hour (back to bangkok) before going on the boat. The lunch there is not good, the atmosphere is not nice, nothing I would recommend.

I felt our time spent at the actual Ayutthaya ruin sites were too short. I felt really rushed during the entire trip. For those who are actually interested in seeing the ruins, I'd advise you to choose something else. The river cruise was also unimpressive. I'd rather take the ferry in Bangkok because there was really nothing interesting to see on the way back.

This trip with Kuhn Pon was excellent. He is the best tour guide I have ever had, offering information all along the ride to Ayutthaya, in addition to at the site, and also on the cruise back to Bangkok. I can't say enough about Kuhn Pon's excellence! He should get a bonus for being so willing to offer extra information, answer questions, and make the tour an incredible experience. Thank you!

This is a high-quality tour.

The guide was very knowledgeable about Thailand in general. Although the acoustics in the coach weren't very good, his comments on modern Thai life, as the coach was on the high road out of Bangkok, were interesting.

Given the entire tour was only a few hours, and the first stop is at Bang Pa-In, Ayutthaya was done in a slightly rushed manner (although you do see quite a bit). The river-cruise on the way back was enjoyable (you get to see quite a bit of Bangkok from the river too). The food, and the deck at the back of the cruise-boat, were great.

The pick-up service in the morning was useful and courteous. If the cruise company doesn't call you by the previous evening, make sure you call them to schedule the pick-up. They have multiple vans doing the pick-up... each shuttle probably does not make more than 2 or 3 stops other than yours.

In Bang Pa-In, be sure to make at least a quick stop at the food area near the entrance, if you would like to taste Thai/Asian fruit or juice, or have an espresso.

Be sure to get back to the coach by/before the time specified by the guide at each stop.

This tour was very well organized. I got a call at my hotel the night before to confirm the pick up, was picked up on time and always felt that the tour operator was in control. Our tour guide, Paul, was great - interesting, knowledgeable, friendly and funny. I would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to get a fun introduction to Ayutthaya.

An excellent, funny, and knowledgeable tour guide took us round the temples of Ayutthaya. The river cruise was very good, with great quality food. Really enjoyed the whole day.

Its a long day with majority of the tour taken up by various stops prior to arriving to Ayutthaya and the river cruise. The stops in my opinion were not too interesting. eg you seen on temple you seen majority of them. Shortly before lunch we arrived at Ayutthaya. Once arrived we had a brief talk from the tour guide and then were let roam to complete our allocated 45 minutes for the stop. While it was wet due to the rain but i dont feel this too away from the tour stop as the ruins could easily be viewed and observed in the allocated time. In my opinion the day was long the ruins a non event (due to little thats left standing) and the best part of this tour was the River cruise back to bangkok city, were you got to absorb the Thailand way of life while cruising on past.

Pick up from hotel was on time. Tour to Ayutthaya and River Cruise was good. Only problem was no toilet paper or any water to wash your hands on the tour bus (just a bucket and dipper in the corner to wash down what was put in the toilet).

The historic place Ayutthaya with it's temple ruins is worth visiting once. The Summer Palace is not that old though! The cruise by the river and the lunch is good but not exceptional.

When we did this trip it was following bad floods, unfortunately it meant that our time at Ayutthaya was cut short in order to make it to the boat and our cruise. We had to get there before high tide so the boat could make it under the bridges! The Summer Palace was a spectacular place to visit but the time there was much too short. The time at the temples were adequate and the guide was very informative. The trip was run very smoothly and all credit to our guide. We then embarked on the river cruise. It was great seeing Bangkok from a different perspective, we would highly recommend this trip.

A great tour, though for me we could perhaps have missed out one of the temples and spent longer at Ayutthaya, though others may feel it was long enough. The guide, as usual, spoke excellent English and was very knowledgable. They take their job as guides very seriously indeed.

Doing what: Thailand's Ayutthaya Temples and River Cruise from Bangkok

Good tour! Good cruise! Worth it! However, visit the reclining Buddha in Wat Po, Bangkok still. The reclining Buddha in Ayutthaya is old and not too impressive.
