My wife and I really enjoyed this trip. We got to stop off on the way to see the market that sets up on the railway line. Lucky for us it was the one day of the year that the town held a procession for the newly ordained monks. A great sight to see the locals passing by all dressed up.
The floating market is an experience, well worth taking this tour. Experience all the hussle and bussle from a small boat being paddled around the market, try some food cooked by a vendor in a boat. The spring rolls and vegetarian dumplings were just divine. Give it a go!

The boat ride to the market was the best part. It takes place in a long tail boat across narrow canals where you get to see how people actually live. The market itself was too tourist oriented. However, going to Bangkok and not visiting the floating market is just plain dumb. You must do it.

Rushing through the local village on the long boat was a memorable experience. I really enjoyed the shopping and found unique items in the markets different from other areas. I bought beautiful puppets and handmade rattles. Absolutely gorgeous scenery and fun shopping. The guide was great. I enjoyed the two stops along the way as well. Best value for a trip to the floating markets available. I would highly recommend this trip.

Doing what: Floating Markets of Damnoen Saduak Cruise Day Trip from Bangkok

Thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Yes, the markets are pretty touristy, but great fun and well worth the half day out. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic time despite the national holiday - so many vendors were not on the water. Our guide had lovely English and pointed out so much of interest along the way (sea salt production, coconut plantation, teak carving) without any pressure to buy. The private car picked us up right on time - there is something to be said for riding in a black mercedes through the countryside. There was no pressure to get to the next stop and we had plenty of time for photographs - who needs shopping? I would probably recommend the whole day tour rather than just the half day - I feel like we missed some great opportunities to see and learn more. Our guide was very nice and answered all our questions. Once she realized I was there for the photos, she made sure that I got to see the grounds and the demonstrations to pick up the details others might not be interested in seeing. The "high speed" boat tour was fantastic - all the altars were decorated and the flowers in bloom at each home just made the trip feel special. The market was a great riot of color and several vendors actually carried larger sizes (US 14 and up) of clothing. There were not a lot of bargains to be had, but it was certainly eye candy.

Great day tour. Guide was very knowledgeable. Floating Markets were GREAT! Included ride in long tale boat just like on the James Bond movie! Rose Garden Cultural Center also provided great overview of Thai culture on beautiful grounds. I would highly recommend.

The tour was great. We purchased with group tour but it ended up we had a private tour since the other party canceled their tour last minute.
The tour guide was great, we went to see the floating market, saw how to make coconut sugar/oil and saw how teak furniture was made. The guide speaks fluent English and the service was great.

I asked her for recommendation for getting sliver jewelry, at the end of the tour (since we are the last client of the day), she was very nice and brought us to the jewelry store (what a bonus!!). Nice stuff over there.

Tami was amazing. She was so knowledgable about the market and Thai culture overall. We enjoyed the stop at the coconut farm and the salt fields. She was very sweet and helped us negotiate with some of the vendors at the market. She made it a great day.

Tour guide, Pearl, very informative and professional. Good experience and two other attractions included in tour: visit to coconut farm and furniture factory. Remember to bargain at the market! It rained during our tour - we could not go on the boat but visited the under cover market.

My friend and I were the only two people on the tour for the day. It was a very good tour including more places than mentioned in itinerary. My highlight was riding an elephant at the Rose Garden Cultural Centre and the floating markets which were an enjoyable experience.

Excellent tour. Very enjoyable and unlike other tours which try to cramp too much, this was at an excellent pace and very enjoyable. Try not to do the floating market with anything else, so you can really enjoying it.

all good, only the two of us on the tour so it was better! the tour guide spoke excellent english. The tour wasnt too long only half day, not too boring- we enjoyed! Long tail boat through the canals was great, floating markets was colourful and different. We stopped at two places a wood carving factory was interesting, some carved pictured were amazing also stopped at a Coconut place, which was good to see how coconuts were used however the shop near it was overpriced and the usual tourist crap! but we didnt stay at these venues for long.. long enough to get a cool drink & a quick look. Viator was good from payment start to finish. thanks.

The floating market is a must to visit in Bangkok. Though it is very touristy - you hardly see locals shopping there, it is a good way to immerse oneself in their culture. The cultural show at Rose Garden Cultural Centre is an interesting and relaxing way to watch how Thai festivals and ceremonies of different events are carried out. I was tickled in some parts of the show. Try this out!

The Floating Market was a great experience!
