3 Days in Bangkok: Suggested Itineraries

Bangkok’s exciting blend of historical landmarks, notorious entertainment venues and rapid modernization draws eleven million visitors every year, placing it third, worldwide, behind Paris and London. With literally thousands of temples to see, unique floating markets and both Westernized and Eastern shopping centers, it’s no surprise that Bangkok is such a popular destination. Of course, Thailand boasts world-renowned food and Bangkok is a great place to sample some signature dishes.

Day 1: Grand Palace Tour

During this tour of the Grand Palace complex  you will take in the Grand Palace itself, which is still used for ceremonial occasions now, the Royal Funeral Hall and the Royal Coronation Hall. The biggest draw, however, is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which contains the holiest Buddha in the country – a 66 cm (26 in) Emerald Buddha which is carved out of only one piece of jade.

Day 2: Bangkok Rose Garden

The Rose Garden Cultural Centre, which is 20 miles (32 km) out of Bangkok is a great chance to connect with rural Thai culture and craft. Witness silk-weaving, pottery making, umbrella painting, doll making, fruit carving and the crafting of silverware. Also expect to see traditional Thai costumes, a busy Thai market and Thai houses, from both the north and the south. The village offers a range of cultural entertainment too, such as Thai kickboxing, sword fighting, Thai dances and elephants.

Day 3: Floating Markets

Take a step back in time and enjoy a traditional floating market, rich with colors and vibrancy. This is also a great way to see more of the canals. The tour takes you on an exhilarating ride through marsh and stilted houses of Bangkok in a speed boat, and on to the markets themselves. Your guide will help you with the language barrier and navigate you through the maze of boats.

Very enjoyable and lovely view of Bangkok by night. We were on upper deck at front and caught the breeze. Buffet food was nice and there was a good choice and sufficient amounts. Band played soft background music which allowed for conversation and we were next to them! Staff were accommodating and helpful. Would recommend highly.

Ayuttaya temples were full of Thailand's history on which our guide was very knowledgeable. He was also amenable to taking photos of couples which was nice. Our lunch on the river cruise back to Bangkok was enjoyable - sitting with people from other countries is always a pleasant experience. Would strongly recommend this tour as we learnt much about Thailand's history - Ayutthaya was once the country's capital!
