Well what an eye opener, Peter our guide was fantastic, if you don't do this tour you are missing out on a true part of Bangkok's history.
Our guide was very good with his explanation of this tradition, how to approach the monks, and what kind of offerings are made. It was a very full tour done professional and with an eye on educating us about the history, religion and present day issues of Bangkok and Thailand.
Excellent visit to Summer Palace and Ayutthaya Temple, with a very knowledgeable guide. Followed by a relaxing river cruise and good buffet lunch.
Great tour. Victor was very informative and provided lots of details at each stop. Very good value for the money and I was surprised we were able to see so much and still get back to Bangkok before dinner.
Great trip with excellent guide: Victor. He gave us not only an overview of the Thai history, religion and philosophy of life, but he also gave us a lot of information about Thai society and day to day life.
He took us in so many places with so many wonderful stories, like we would have spent 1 whole week in Thailand. Also very well organized trip vane, bus, cruise ship etc.
A private tour is the only way to go to see this very busy tourist site. Our driver and guide were so nice and professional and took care of everything so we could just enjoy the palace and grounds. While other people were waiting in line we were escorted to each building. Even my ten year old enjoyed this tour.
Great day tour and will give you a good history of Ayutthaya and the outstanding temples around the area. I would have to say it was exceptionally hot that day, so a bit unpleasant, but still worth the experience.
Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable of the area and provided exceptional history of the Thailand and Ayutthaya, which was a great precursor leading up to the actual tour.
For travelers who want to get a good history lesson of Thailand and see exceptional ruins, book this tour.
This was a fantastic tour! If you only do one, make sure it is this one. Seeing the ruins and going on the boat are all first rate. Our tour driver was excellent. This was the first thing I did in Thailand and I couldn't of been happier.
Absolutely fantastic! Well worth the money. The tour included a tour of the summer palace which was just beautiful. The temple ruins were fantastic and the cruise was elegant and serene. I was pleasantly surprised with the delicious buffet and elegant service. The tables had linens and the staff was attentive and very pleasant. Our guide Ken was knowledgeable and very accommodating. In short, this tour is a MUST!
very nice day trip for the day lot to see. Ayutthaya over the bus ride out of the city was about 2 hours to the sites.
Beautiful buildings, worth the visit. Guide was very informative and we were only a small group 5. Pick up from the hotel. The tour ended at the largest gem factory in the world, which was 'not part of the tour' and we were not obliged to buy anything. The gem factory organised drop off back to our hotel or at any other place that we wanted to visit. I was surprised that this tour identical in every detail was more expensive booking through Viator than if I had booked it through the hotel where I was staying.
The tour was more than expected. Our tour guide, Donna, was very informative and fun. The boat ride back to Bangkok was pretty amazing. After the buffet, I sat at the top deck and watched the scenery past by.
We had a really great time on this tour (Andy was best guide) was nice to not have to figure out where we were going and what not to miss, and we had 4 stops on this tour that would have been difficult to do without a tour bus. Ancient ruins, temples, summer palace, buffet lunch on a river cruise.
The tour was really nice with lots to see. Transportation was very comfortable too! The only two complaints that I have are:
1. I felt that we were rushed through most of the attractions. I wish we had just 20 min extra at each of the sights
2. some people on the same trip with us paid a lot less for the trip because they've booked through a local provider. It was a little disappointing:
A temple is a temple. Once you see one, you and #39;ve seen a 100. Still really cool, very informative... I and #39;d recommend it.
Way too rushed! It is worth doing, because the Ayutthaya temples and Summer Palace are both very interesting and beautiful places to visit. However, I am giving it 3 stars only, because it was way too rushed. Now, I am not one to complain too much about this and I am always on time etc, etc, but believe me, this was way too fast. Inside the Summer Palace, we were literally rushing from one stop to the next. Careful at Summer Palace, there is almost no shade- you can rent a golf cart to go around, but you need to show a driver's license. At the Ayutthaya temples, thee was not enough free time only about 15 minutes, which is nothing. We arrived back in Bangkok around 4:30-5 in the afternoon, for a tour that really should be the whole day long.
The dinner on the boat on the way back was lovely, with a very rich buffet.
Pick up for the tour didnot work properly. Tour Operator old us that Puck up cannot be done and has to be Arrangement on Owen effort Even the pick up was included in the price.
It was Not enough time at the single Stopps.
Qualität of Food was ok but not excellent aus announced.
I think the tour was average because we had a tour guide who was acting too childish, saying her name donna all the time and tells the words: so thats why too much, that irritated me after a while.
Too many people on the trip which makes it too crowded, my opinion.
Lunch was not good, food was cold while we were the first bus to arrive on the boat and could start eating.
1- star because of the guide.
1- star because of the amount of people on the tour.
1- star because of the bad lunch on the boat.
Tour was ok. We saw some temples and the bus and pick up times were great. The guide we were assigned to could have been better though. The information and explanations received during the tour were not about the history and architecture of the temples but more about culture in Thailand.
Not as much time at Ayutthaya as I would have liked. Well organized and pick up on time. Boat not for me- large group and not much room to sit outside.
Not very good value for money, although not expensive. We could hardly understand our guide, who's name escapes me. They didn't accompany us into temples, as we saw other guides doing, and the supposed refreshments were served at a commercial gem store which wasn't mentioned as part of the tour! When the guide said we were now to visit a tailors we declined and got dropped off elsewhere in the city. This tour could, and should, have been shorter. If it were, we could have planned more visits for the day.
Pah, rubbish! Not the Grand Palace or Wat Phra Kaew, but the value of the tour. Although the guide was well informed and well spoken, again we were not always accompanied into the buildings so we could ask questions once in there.
Like other reviews - this tour was finished in about 1.5 hours. Our tour guide did not care to really explain any of the history behind the palace or the temples or what their purposes was. He was more interested in getting us finished as quickly as possible. You are better off going to the destination by yourself...
Excellent tour guide, very enjoyable tour,
I took this private tour and I paid 87 instead of 50 listed on Viator site.
The guide he didnt introduce himself came 30 minutes late, after I called the operator and we faced the traffic in Bangkok for over 1 hour up to Grand Palace in this time he didnt address me a word.
He rushed me to take some photos around the buildings inside palace court and the only information he gave me was: this is Emerald Buddha, these are demons, this is half man half deer, this is golden.
As long as I was not blind nor stupid, all those I could see myself.
Visit at the palace was less than 2 hours, he wanted to leave at 14:50 then we stopped on the way to hotel at the jewelry factory where a woman insisted for half an hour to make me buy something, so I couldnt even take a look around because of her unpleasant persistence.
If I paid a taxi from hotel to Grand Palace and took an audio-guide it would have been probably cheaper and for sure much better than this lousy guided tour for which I wasted 87 and a day in my life.
