Tour guide was very good, and we had extra time to go visit whatever caught out interest. The tour guide was also very helpful inpointing us to what additional stops/sites might be the most interesting so that we were able to make the most out of the time that we had.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was a lovely young man, very knowledgeable who bought the history of Colonia Guell to life, of which none of our group knew anything about. Gaudi Crypt was inspiring and amazing and Montserrat's history incredible. Stunning views from the rack railway trip up the mountain and we also took the optional trip further up the mountain by cable car to Saint Joan, well worth the extra few euros.
The day trip to both places was worth it. Our tour guide Feliciano (I hope I spelled his name right) was wonderful. First time in Spain and hopefully it won't be the last. Gracias!
Good experience although I was expecting more from what was described on the advertisement but it was still a good option, with nice places, nice guide tour and interesting day. It`s close to Barcelona so the trip was not tiring. I recommend.
Colonia Guell small - not that much to see but visiting the the Gaudi crypt was definitely worthwhile. Very small but you definitely get a feel for Gaudi's work and puts La Sagradia Familia into perspective. Train ride to Montserrat pleasant if fairly short. When we arrived the guide suggested going straight to the Monastery in order to sit/see the boys choir. However even arriving with 45 minutes to spare in the church it was standing room only as Mass was in progress. The boys choir eventually arrived - sang one very beautiful piece and then more of a folk song which was not to my personal liking. All in all possibly 10 minutes worth of music and near to an hour and half standing. We had a look around the Monastery following the service, had a quick bite to eat then paid and queued for one of the two funicular railways. Unfortunately we did not manage to get on the railway as it took just 48 passengers by which time we had to abandon the queue and ask for a refund. Had a quick look around the free exhibition included with the ticket and then back to the coach. Personally I think a little more information about waiting times for the railways would have been very useful to have prior to wasting time in the queue. In essence I think if you just want to see Montserrat then do this by train from Barcelona under your own steam. Bit 'touristy' for my liking even in the Monastery!
Guide spent too much time speaking to the 4 spanish tourist. Took english speaking tourist time which was already too short for Montserrat to give a briefing. Spent all time on bus with spanish speaking tourist, no history discussion with group.
This was a great day. Got very tipsy at the first stop, the Freixenet winery, which put us in a great mood for the rest of the trip. Sitges is wonderful, but not enough time, as we were rushing our amazing seafood lunch that we ordered at one of the beautiful Restaurants along the beach. Another 30 - 60 minutes at Sitges would be perfect. Or not be like us and eat on the run.
It was fun...Anna the tour guide very sweet and informative.
It was good but very fast paced. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we like him very much. However, I don't believe his English was that great. the French said his French was not that good either. Some of the hotels were not easily accessible for luggage. For example, the hotel in Sitges, even though nice had an extension. We had to send our luggage down a freight elevator. Then, look for the room which was way out of the way. Signage not that good. The front desk was not that interested in helping. Although, comfortable room. Also, the bus was small and the air conditioning was horrible. It was so hot one day, my husband got nauseated. Bus driver and tour guide very helpful.. You should tell people there is a lot of walking and a lot of stairs on this tour.
Doing what: 4-Day Best of Catalonia Tour from Barcelona
Needed more time in Tarragona, as the guided tour was quite rushed - it would have been nice to have some free time. In contrast, there was too much free time in Sitges as there is not all that much too see.
Tour of Freixenet was great good tour , lots of information and a sample of Cava. Would recommend that the tour be more about Spanish wines and forget Sitges. Sitges we were on our own for several hours which was way to much. We did learn that Bacardi family was from this town and there is a museum. HOWEVER, you can only see on a tour and the English tour for the day was fully booked at to late. Other than that if you wanted to see a beach and have food I guess it would have been okay for a few minutes
Thought Tarragona was great! Time there was too short, very interesting city with a lot to offer. By the time we got to Sitges, all the stores/shops were closed. Not many options except the beach, and more time was allocated to Sitges then to Tarragona. Guide was great but would not recommend the tour just due to the fact that Tarragona was the main draw here. Twice as much time allowed for Sitges with little to offer!
Fernando, the guide was excellent
Tarragona is a very authentic and charming city, I really loved it. Sitges is more a city you can find every where in the Mediteranian, but OK.
Tarragona was beautiful with its roman ruins, would have loved to spend more time at Tarragona and less time at Sitges. If you plan on taking this trip, plan to spend a decent amount of time at a very nice beach. Our guide was very good and we lucked out in getting a private tour for this trip.
