We really enjoyed the tour. It was great to see the countryside on our way - so beautiful! Our tour guide was terrific and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Montserrat. It is so worth seeing! Thank-you.
We joined a viator Montserrat hiking tour LOVED IT to visit both the monastery and also hike up the mountains. We met with our tour guide in Barcelona for the one hour drive out to Montserrat. We were early enough that there were really no tour groups there yet, so we were able to enjoy the sites without any crowds and visit the black madonna with no lines Amazing. The monastery is situated at an amazing place right in between the rock mountains. We then had the chance to go to the very top of the mountain - you can either take the funacular or hike up the path. We then hike all the way down from the very top. A word of caution - it is not an easy hike in that there are no nice paths and it is very rocky. The mountain is a favorite place for local rock climbers... We then join the church service and listened to the choir before heading back to Barcelona. The farm stands around the church also sells amazing local produce.
Montserrat and the rail rack ride were great. Well worth seeing the basilica and surround art works. The highlight of the tour for me, though, was seeing Gaudi's crypt currently used as a church. Beautiful and inspiring. Definitely recommend. .
Wonderful trip! It was great to get out of the city for a day of hiking in the beautiful Pyrenees. If you take this tour on either a Wednesday or Saturday you will be able to experience the market at Vic - well worth it!
As for Filippo when booking. He absolutely made the trip for our group. He was incredibly well informed and could answer any of our questions about Catalunya's history, culture and language. He was also flexible and offered our group a couple of options about how to spend our time. I cannot recommend him highly enough - great guy!
An all around marvelous day, with another excellent guide. We enjoy the bus drive portion of the journey in addition to the destination. Girona walking tour had lots of inclines and steps but the city is too interesting to miss. After adequate time for browsing or for enjoying lunch, it was time to meet at the bus for the drive to Figueres. The Dali museum is incredible and just enough time was available to enjoy the exhibist, allowing a few minutes for a sangria at a tapas bar very near to the museum. LOVELY day, a perfect way to see these remarkable sights!
Great tour - enjoyed it fully. Well structured with right stops and the guide gave good amount of time for us to spend time on our own also.
The tour guide was excellent I think it was Emma. Small size also made it personal.
Both Tarragona and Sitges are excellent places to visit, each with its own characteristics, both are next to Mediterranean sea, which makes them more adorable.
All in all, one should not miss this one.
If you have the time while in Barcelona I recommend this tour. A great way to get out of the city. Montserrat is a beautiful and spiritual experience. A must is the art museum located on the plaza underground.
The overall trip experience was enjoyable. It's quite an experience and fun taking the almost vertical train up to the very top of the mountain. The only heads up is that lunch takes place at Montserrat and the options are very limited as there are only a couple cafes up there.
Our guide for Tarragona and Sitges was very knowledgeable and clearly communicated information concerning sites to see, meeting points and amount of free time. My only suggested would be to allow more time in Tarragona...there is a lot to see. Sitges is also a very interesting area along the Mediterranean that you should not miss.
The tour to Montserrat should not be missed! The monastery is beautiful and the views after riding the funicular to the top are wonderous. The walk down from the top is strenuous however at age 65 and moderately fit I was able to accomplish it with no injury. I believe you can take the funicular back down for an extra fee but you would miss the views and thrill of walking the path down.
Our tour of Montserrat was fantastic - highly recommend this to anyone and everyone! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, providing all of the background information necessary to make this an enjoyable and educational trip. The weather was gorgeous, which I understand is not always the case. We could see blue skies for miles and miles. The late afternoon tour of Park Guell and other Gaudi sites was also enjoyable, but pretty tiring after a long tour at Montserrat. The Gaudi work is magnificent and well worth the effort to visit.
Tarragona was a beautiful old city, and seeing the aqueduct was a wonderful experience. Our guide, David, was exceptional in his knowledge, willingness to accommodate those on the tour, and pointing our the many things we would have missed on our own. Lunch in Sitges and meandering the back streets was a special treat.
We had a great guide and an excellent experience! Loved Montserrat! Be sure and make it part of your Barcelona tour!!
Montserrat has great views, but unfortunately you can't predict the weather and it was foggy all day with limited views of the mountains. However, it was still a great experience and our tour guide, Javier, was very gracious and kind. I wish we had maybe at least one more hour here to do more of the activities, but overall it is a nice place to visit! Thank you!!!
An amazing day. Girona was a very old city with an interesting history. We had a walking tour around the city with tome to shop. Dali museum was like travelling through the mind of Dali! We saw work that we were not aware he had available! His jewellery was artistic. The museum had so much of his work. A great day, money well spent
Three friends and I went on this tour in mid-October of 2015. We had a wonderful time during our tour of Montserrat and our hike through the Natural Park.
We were picked up from the pre-assigned destination, exactly on time. Our two tour guides were incredibly friendly and informative throughout the entire trip. When we first arrived to the monastery, we had some time to explore the grounds. We visited the Santa Maria de Montserrat where we saw beautiful architecture and artwork, and also got to visit the famous Black Madonna statue.
Afterwards, we took the funicular railway up to the Natural Park and hiked for approximately 2 hours, slowly making our way back down to the monastery. The views from the park were absolutely spectacular. The guides provided us with many options, in regards to which sections of the park we wanted to visit. They would stop to comment about the history of the region, the types of plants that grow in the park, the wildlife that graze in the area, etc. After hiking down to the monastery, we bought some coffee at a cafe and walked by various food stands, where we got to sample local cheeses, honey, dried fruits and nougat.
Overall, we had an excellent experience and would highly recommend it to others particularly to those who love nature and the outdoors!
We loved our tour of the Dali Theater museum in FIGUERES, his home in Cadaques, and the rugged Costa Brava scenery. Our guide, Alexandra, was especially great - bright, very knowledgeable and an adept driver! It was a pleasure to spend the day with her. We'd highly recommend this tour.
Montserrat is simply amazing! Highly recommend it as the views are just beautiful. I would also recommend taking the time to see the Saint Mary inside the Cathedral, stunning.
Wonderful day, from the narrow stairway paths of Girona, to the golden stones of Pals, to the sparkling sea and wonderful food of the Costa Brava. Our guide was knowledgeable, charming and accommodating. Thoroughly enjoyable.
We lucked out with a perfect weather day - I liked the free time we had to ourselves at Montserrat to hike and hear the boys choir - great recommendation from tour guide to get to the church early for that! The cava tour was also enjoyable and great opportunity to see a bit of the countryside.
A must see for anyone traveling to Barcelona. We really enjoyed the combination of Montserrat and then a tour of Codorniu vineyard. Montserrat was more like a pilgrimage for us, the experience was just so beautiful. The tour of the Codorniu vineyard was one of the most extensive tours I have ever had of a vineyard. It was a lot of fun to ride on the trains and sample the cava.
After a brisk walk to the minibus, we quickly set off for Montserrat in the thick of the morning rush hour, but fortunatey we were going against the traffic flow and we made good time. Wonderful time up in Montserrat with the clouds playing hide and seek with the towering boulders that rose above us. We took thhe funicular to the top extra cost, but well worth it and later went in to hear the Boys choir sing prayers at 1pm. Sadly and nothing to do with the tour some people seem to have forgotten their basic manners even inside a church. Later onto Le Cordonui, and a terrific tour by train of their cellars and wine tasting. Long journey back into Barcelona due to traffic but the Guide/Driver kept us amused with many tales of his lifes experiences, Totally recommended!
Had a great time with a group from Holland and a fellow American.Enrique was an accomodating host. Lunch in the country in the foothills of Montserrat...breathtaking! Not a fan of the wine at the vineyard we visited, but personnel there very informative. It was a great day!
Highly recommend wish we had more time at Montserrat
This tour was one of the highlights of the trip to Barcelona for my wife and I. The ride on the bus was very comfortable, and our tour guide, Carlota, was very good at explaining the history of the sites we visited. She also had excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to do during our free time. Although it was raining during our tour, we were lucky in that it only rained during the bus rides between sites, and when it was time to begin walking the rain stopped. The rain did, however, add a little ambiance to the small towns we visited, as it wet the cobblestones and streets, giving them a nice authentic look. The sites themselves were beautiful, and seeing the streets and buildings in Girona that were filmed in the Game of Thrones was very nice. Pals was a nice little town, and the final destination, Calella de Palafrugell, had one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever eaten at called Les Voltes. All in all, I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see parts of Catalonia outside of Barcelona.
