Doing what: 4-Day Best of Catalonia Tour from Barcelona

I was in a group of two. The tour guide Sosep was very passionate and was familiar with the history of the cities we visited. The advice from our tour guide was valuable. The mountain in Monserrat is amazing!

We had a very good experience with Viator service regarding the bookings. Then in Spain, Julia travel was also co-operative with our needs-although their organization about the bus tour and communicating the specific details about the meet time/place could have been better. Ask all the Qs before you start the tour. They are good with replying the emails too. Our bus tour guide could have been more pleasant and efficient, but I guess she was working the holidays..("she did not care about baby-sitting us"..in her own words). The local guides in each city were excellent though. If you have a choice, don't take this tour during the Christmas week as you will miss seeing the things scheduled to see on the 25th since all the places are closed. We did not get to see one of the main attractions scheduled for the 25th. Overall the experience and hotel quality was good. The beauty of the country takes your breath away..

You get more than what you pay for !! Wow

This was a great way to see a lot of Spain in a short period of time and also learn historical and culturally important facts. The only draw back is the very long bus ride from Barcelona to Madrid. It was at least a 9 hour trip and about 7 pm by the time we reached Madrid. We left the next day at 7:30 am so there was no sightseeing in Madrid. Some of the participants avoided this by starting the trip in Madrid, arriving a few days earlier and doing their own sightseeing there and avoiding the long bus ride. Madrid can be reached from Barcelona by train or plane. Or plan your trip to fly into Madrid and leaving from Barcelona.

An absolutely wonderful road trip. First class tour guides for each major site as well as our on-board coordinator and the superb bus driver. The Julia Travel folks in Spain do a great job. We loved every minute of it even though we normally avoid "mass tourism". But if you want to see all the incredible sights of Andalucia and La Mancha in a few days this is the only way to go. Highly recommended.

Amazing trip, but The itinerary is too light in comparison to what was describe on website. Too many optional tours offered to gain extra money.( but some of them was very good- like Spanish dancing in Seville and Gypsy in Granada- so charming, walking tour in Granada- was the best!, some is shouldn’t be offered at all – river trip) There were many walking tours with local guides in the different locations. Unprofessional Tour Guides in many places and specially in Alhambra. Not enough time in Toledo- 2hr, this is must be a joke., and at the same time spent 1 hr in La Munch village with only one dirty street ?! Our tour host Christina was ok, but she should provide more historical information, legends, stories, answer the questions and so on during the driving. Mix more than two languages- BIG mistake!. The bus and air on was working fine, and the drivers are by law instructed to stop every two hours to rest, even food on rest areas was awful. Take the 4 star hotel options - but the 3 star is more convenient is in Granada and Seville. Food in 4 star hotel in Seville was not eatable at all, dishes was dirty, all drinks during the dinner (including water) was provided by additional cost. There the 3-star hotel is in walking distance of the charming city centre whereby and the 4 star is a bit far away.(should be known prior to order the trip.

Doing what: 4-Day Best of Catalonia Tour from Barcelona

This tour is a great way of seeing Catalonia. Our tour consisted of 7 people, however the tour guide said numbers vary from 2 - 14 people (Max 20), travelling around in a mini air conditioned coach. There were plenty of great locations visited as per the itinerary. On reflection some of the best moments have been the dinners at the hotels where we stayed. Our tour guide (Jo'el) was very knowledgeable, approachable and spoke very good english. A great overview of everything from Roman times to Dali's modern art.

Doing what: 2-Day Northern Catalonia Tour: Vic, Figueres, Girona and Montserrat

The tour was really bad. The tour guide didn't even know the history of most of the places and couldn't answer any question. The tour was supposed to be in English but the guide was talking in Spanish 75% of the time!!!

Amazing trip. We had a wonderful host Christina l who spoke good English and Spanish. There were many walking tours with local guides in the different locations, and I felt that all of them were proud to be showing us their country. The bus and aircon was working ok, and the drivers are by law instructed to stop every two hours to rest. Take the 4 star hotel options - the only place where the 3 star is more convenient is in Granada. There the 3-star hotel is in walking distance of the charming city centre whereby te 4 star is a bit far away. There were also options for Spanish dancing in Seville and Granada. Did the Granada one but found it rather commercial - but Granada is just so charming that all was forgiven. I found Spanish people in general to very friendly and helpful.

The trip was good for golden oldies like us. No early starts and the hotels and meals were good. The driver sometimes was a little enthusiastic with the speed of his vehicle but we arrived safely. The tour highlites were very good and the guide had a relaxed manner that went with the demenour of the trip.. We enjoyed the experience

The itinerary is too light in comparison to what was describe on website. Too many optional tours offered to gain extra money. Unprofessional Tour Guide.

Bestbestbest. The $700 alone I would pay for food, lodging, and transportation but we got tours and museum admissions and our own personal guide on top of all that?! What a steal. The meals included were hefty (starter, entree, dessert, wine, coffee) and all the hotels were clean, spacious, and modern (gyms and/or pools in all of them). We got a huge bus for our small group of 4 which felt special (but think of the environment!) and our drivers were always reliable (drove us safely up and down Montserrat, thank you!). We were very impressed with our tour guide Olivier--although he hasn't been a Catalonia native all his life he's basically a walking history book and city paper all in one. We threw a lot of questions at him, and was able to elaborate remarkably on all of them, in spite of some funny French-Espanol-ish-isms. In retrospect, wish we'd tipped him, and graciously!!! We took this tour before exploring the city center, so I felt that I really got to know Catalonian culture and history, muchmuch more than the typical Barcelona visitor (or expat resident, even)! The only things I would change would be: [1] less time in Sitges (can't go to the beach after we've packed our things! check-out at 12 would be best), more time in Tarragona [2] nix the Torres wine tour!--I was expecting a small, intimate winery with at least 3 different wines to taste--not so with Torres [3] More time at the Dali Museum (3 hours would be nice for both parts). We bought a lot at the Vic food market (wish we could have gone during the mushroom harvest) and ate a superb lunch. Surprising faves: Dali museum, Santes Creus, morning run by the beach in Sitges.

Doing what: 4-Day Best of Catalonia Tour from Barcelona

We ate at the hotels every night and the menu choices were really good. It was very nice to have the food included. We also really enjoyed the hotels. However, the our first hotel was far from the center which was a big disadvantage. Most places visited were amazing, with the exception of Vic and the winery. Vic just didn't have much to offer, it was a little boring. The winery was very commercial and the wine tasting after consisted of one choice of wine (not what I am used to). I wish we could have spent more time in Girona, very beautiful city. Dali museum was outstanding. Our tour guide was very disappointing. Most of my questions were answered with "I don't know". She was not very knowledgeable and whatever she did explain was very dry.
