Comment from Philippa Burne
Visiting Montserrat was one of my travel highlights. Not only is it visually spectacular, but there’s something about the place that takes you out of your normal thinking – even if only for an hour or two.
Built by Benedictine monks in 1025, on a black rock ‘serrated’ mountain – hence the name – about 30 miles (50km) from Barcelona, the place is still a pilgrimage site for Christians all over the world.Editor’s Note: This recommendations was taken from our Barcelona Things to Do blog.
