Super fun and thorough tour for only 2 days. Really saw a lot, nice hotel, excellent tour guide. Very cool!
It was a good trip and worth doing – but it was a very long day – forget views of the mount lunch they cram you up in a corner of the room with no views (the restaurant was not busy - plenty of seats with views but not for viator?) – Guides and drivers very good
Mont Saint Michel is truly one of the best places in the world to spend time - and I am not a religious person. Our day trip was fantastic. The luncheon provided did not meet the needs of everyone on the tour, with several of the passengers requiring vegetarian meals only. Perhaps there needs to be an option for this on the order form. But overall we had a fabulous day and have already recommended to several of my colleagues who are also visiting France later this year.
The itinery was great and the balance between being guided and having free time was balanced however there was insuficent time to properly explore the chateaux (especialy the gardens) on the 2nd and 3rd days which were all very lovely. Mont St Michel was well worth a visit. I did not expect to be spending so much time in a coach. The Motel food on the first night was not good, otherwise the accomodation was fine.
At first, I was kind of worry about the "4 hours" ride, but that was surprisingly nice and enjoyable! The bus they use was a double decker, and we were all sitting on the top level. Ride was smooth and comfortable! Lunch that was included in the trip was pretty good too. The omelet - it's ok, very different, but the salmon was GOOD! Perfectly cooked! The apple pie at the end was very nice too. It's was a very nice lunch. But if you are a vegetarian, DON'T join the one with lunch!! It's a fix menu!! The place is very nice, even it was low tide when we were there. Inside the Abbey so so. But I still think it's worth going if you have spare time in France.
This was a fantastic day trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave interesting information both on the trip and at Mont St Michel. The Normandy countryside was stunning and Mont St Michel amazing. Thank you!
Great trip. Very informative guide. Nice transportation. Unique lunch. "Must do" destination. You'll love it!!!!
I was in Paris for work, but I decided to take one day free to visit Mont St Michel at the Normandy shore. I took a one day tour from Paris organized by Cityrama. It departed at Am from Downtown Paris, near Louvre Museum. The bus was very comfortable, although the trip is really too long. It takes more than 4 hours and a half to get there, including a half hour stop in a little nice village in the Normandy, in the middle of the "Cider route", so I bought a Calvados bottle there! :-)
We arrived to the Mont St Michel area, the only con of this trip is that we lost 1 hour having a lousy lunch in a very bad attended restaurant one kilometer far from the island, instead of having the opportunity of enjoying more time inside the medieval village.
They took us to the Abbey first, with a guided tour for around one hour and a half, which was very good. The place is amazing, specially if you think that it was built since VII to XI century!
After the tour, we had one more hour to stroll around the village, which is beautiful, although too crowded with tourists. I took hundred of pictures, the place is SO scenographic and it surprise with every step.
We started our way back to PAris at 4.30, and arrived to our starting point at 9.15 PM.
My only critic is that it is too much travel on bus (9 hours), to stay just 3 hours in the Abbey and the village.
If you have time, I strongly recommend you to arrive after mid-day, check in in a hotel in the village (they are pretty small old hostels and B and B), visit the Abbey, and stay for the evening in the village after all the tourists leaves. This should be much a more enjoyable experience.
Next day you can visit Omaha Beach and the other D-Day sites, which are just 30 minutes away drive. Of course you need a car for that.
Good day trip out of Paris, tour guide was excellent. I would prefer a 15 or 20 minutes stop on the way back to Paris instead of 30minutes.
