An excellent experience!
Our guide was fantastic, extremely well versed. Had pictures of before and after battles and photos of men who fought there. A great learning experience.
Viator made it very easy to book our tour to the beaches. The tour itself was comprehensive, gave us a deeper appreciation for the D Day operation and our tour guide was charming, gracious and above all, knowledgeable.
This was a great tour I can highly recommend it. Lots of good information.

An absolutely fabulous half-day tour. Our guide was a very personable local with excellent English who made the history of the region light up with impressive knowledge of the specifics of battles and the people involved. The tour hit all the important sights (especially for those familiar with the American landing points) and ended at a reasonable time. Would suggest a more well-defined meeting point other than "outside the train station", but otherwise this was a near-perfect tour. Thank you!

If you only have a limited time to see Normandy, this is the way to go. Our guide picked us up at our BnB as scheduled and gave a wonderful overview of the D-Day operations. The stop at the American Cemetary is particularly moving. His recommendation to be at the flag pole when taps was played and the flag was lowered was great. Early April weather was a little cold, but the trip was a wonderful experience.
Very interesting and informative. It was sad to visit the Americal cemetary but it is a must-see.. It was a little difficult to hear the guide's descriptions on occasion from the back seat of the minibus.
We loved our trip to Normandy with our guide. He was fun and his WW2 knowledge was great. We took a train from Bayeux to Paris, very easy. We rode the train back with our new "tour group" friends and had a blast drinking wine and eating local breads and cheeses in our train compartment.
After recently taking my family (parents, wife and our 3 small children) on a Viator American tour, I was disappointed. Upon reflection, well, I am downright angry. I guess in some ways I should have expected it, but was hoping for the best. After planning a few days for our group to be in Normandy, I contacted many local tour guides (all which had great reviews on review sites) but all were already booked. I then checked Viator and they gladly took my money. Below are my grievances with the ensuing tour: 1) We agreed to meet at the Bayeux train station. Upon arrival to the station, it was obvious that the train station was being renovated and currently not in use. I asked him where I should park and after looking around, he said it “was complicated” and then instructed me to park my car somewhere in the construction area. I asked him if I would get towed - he said probably. Point #1: don’t tell me to park somewhere if you think I’ll probably get towed. Think about it ahead of time and instruct me to meet you somewhere other than a no-parking zone. 2) Inaccurate in his information during the tour in that: (i) every US Navy ship was referred to as a “cruiser”, (ii) he didn’t know what a draw was, and (iii) he was unaware that when he first took us to Omaha, he had taken us to the Vierville draw. More importantly, I felt that he had no sense of personal attachment to the sites. It was just facts he had memorized from a Viator guidebook. He arrogantly spit them out, showed us some pictures from his book and then gave us time to look around. Point #2: I can live with a tour guide that doesn’t know everything. However, to have the guide doesn’t treat the information with respect is unforgiveable. 3) There was an anti-America slant to his tour. The guide insinuated that America should have agreed to bury Germans in our cemetery like the British did. Really? He also managed to get a jab in that there were few minorities buried in the American cemetery due to the rampant racism in America at that time. Really?? Finally, he also used time to point our Gordon Brown’s “Obama Beach” gaffe. Really??? Point #3: when your tour consists of 8 Americans paying you money to give you the facts about D-Day, don’t use it as your chance to take political jabs. Be thankful that the Allied forces succeeded in liberating Europe. There were some other things (e.g., he drove like a madman and in so many words called someone on the tour fat), but you get my point. As Americans we are very proud of what our boys did in Normandy. To have this once in a lifetime tour hijacked by a Frenchman with a chip on his shoulder was disappointing. I hope that Viator has higher standards in how their guides conduct tours and this was an anomaly. I certainly won’t ever choose to use a company to give me a guide. I’ll stick with locals or do it myself.
Our tour was outstanding! We are telling all our friends and relatives about it. Our tour guide really added to our store of knowledge about D-Day. We highly recommend this experience.
Fantastic 5+ hour tour. I would recommend it.
I am normally too cheap to pay for a guided tour, but this one was totally worth it. Our guide was a local who is studying history in university. He was extremely knowledgeable, and obviously interested in and passionate about Normandy. I am a history teacher, so I might have thought that I knew enough already, but our guide's insights made everything we saw much more meaningful. The van was comfortable, our group was full of interesting people, and the tour was great. We took a train from Paris - the two-hour trip was very comfortable and pleasant, and we made it up to Normandy and back in one day without ending up exhausted. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour.
