It was really good but there were things I wasn't prepared for that I would omit ie I didn't realise we were stopping to shop for so long at the mall which is mainly silk items - although interesting I would rather have had more time at the Great Wall and to take pictures rather than be rushed about

Cynthia, my tour guide, was fantastic. She made sure everything was covered and was fun to spend the day with! I had a terrible cold while I was in Beijing, so Cynthia tailored the tour to suit how I was feeling on the day, which was much appreciated.

My husband and I joined this special Beijing tour. In terms of sightseeing, the general experience was fantastic, and we felt we were treated like VIPs as what the name of the tour suggested. We were the only clients in an air-conditioned car, along with the tour guide and the driver. The experienced tour guide stayed with us most of the time and provided useful historical background information at each point of interest. An unique aspect of this tour was that we could visit different attractions at our own pace, and this tour allowed us to visit multiple Beijing attractions within one day which fitted our packed schedule. Two things to improve on. Firstly, the quality of the lunch especially the Peking Duck was below standard when the tour description mentioned that as a highlight of the lunch. The dish we had was rough and dry. Secondly, we were surprised to be taken to two stores with one selling jade products and another selling silk products. It was ok to be taken to those places, and we were not pressured to make any purchases. Our experience could have been better if we were informed of those surprised visits in the Viator itinerary ahead of time.

Pro: Tour went ahead even though I was the only one booked. Prompt arrival and guide has good English skills. Tea ceremony was a welcome surprise. Not much of a shopper but silk factory prices were amazing($84US for scarf, could probably haggle lower).

Con: Waited 20-30mins for tickets at Forbiden City(surely they could have been prepurchased to spend that time wandering the site). Also much traffic to Great wall lead to shorter time there than would have liked. I work out with stairs so it was an easy climb but still took 45min up/45min down leaving no time at the top, or to check out the vendors/food stalls/etc. Adding 30min to the length would have made it a better tour even if it costs $10 more.

Definetely recommend if you have limited time in Beijing such as those traveling to China 72hours visa free.

We went on this tour in November 2014 (quiet season), ended up being a tour with just the two of us. Our guide and driver were on time to pick us up from our hotel and pretty flexible about the things we wanted to see or not see that were on the tour. The guide was informative and relaxed.

This was one of the highlights of our trip. The market tour was very interesting, seeing everything so fresh and well displayed -- along side some ingredients that were very far removed from our North American diet. The instruction was easy and we all were responsible for cooking the recipes after Chef demonstrated each one. I would recommend this experience to every person who likes to cook and wants to learn about other cultures -- a truly great time, money well spent!

This is the best way to do Beijing in a day! Everything had a great pace and although I was initially questioning whether I could stand an 8 hour tour, the time flew by and I could have stayed longer. Cherry was magnificent as a tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable about Chinese history and made sure to stage the photos that were must haves. I highly recommend!
