Fantastic. Interesting, knowledgeable and fun. Chunyi spoke excellent english. The market tour was interesting and the cooking class simple and fun. Her cooking space is clean and well laid out. A great day!
Our tour of Beijing Essential Full-Day Tour including Great Wall at Badaling, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square was wonderful! We had a great day where we were shown the major sights of the city plus a few extras like the silk and jade factories. I loved that all the entrance fees were included in the tour price. Also, the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at our hotel was greatly appreciated. I was slightly disappointed in the lunch, but that wasn't the main attraction, so I didn't dwell on it. Over all I would highly recommend this tour to a friend!
Very good tour, all the visited places are very interesting and worth seeing. The guide jacki is very nice and informative. But more time could be spent at the summer palace
We booked a private tour in order to have flexibility, and found that our guide appeared to have a different view of the day. Our visit to the Great Wall was set at a mere 2 hours, while we could have spent much longer there.
We felt rushed, for no reason other than the fact that we were booked for a HORRIBLE lunch at the Jade Factory, where a sales person (who was very sick) followed my every step through the store in an attempt to sell us junk. We did not ask to visit the Jade factory and felt the high pressure sales approach was very inappropriate.
We would have loved to have spent more time visiting the Spirit Way.
Our guide gave us a choice to visit a tea house or a silk factory on the way home. We chose the silk factory, and again felt pressured to make a purchase. BTW, we did buy a "king" size comforter, which turns out to be no more than a full to queen size.
All in all, our guide was well spoken and knowledgeable. Had we confined our activities to touring, it would have been a great day. BTW, Our only bad meal in the entire trip was had during this tour.
Great tour, our first visit of a Beijing opera. Was a great and amazing show. Many thanks to our great tourguide Warren.
I found it a bit uncomfortable at first because it was me and my daughter and our guide was a male and I didn't realise we were only going with him and his driver. He was very nice informative once we started chatting. A bit scary at times with the driving. But apart from that it was the was ok.
Super recommended. The guide is very friendly, the show amazing and delightful dinner, although it includes only one drink (a glass of beer, water or soda), but you can pay for more.
Good tour. Linda was great, very informative, well ask for her again
Great spot to see the Great Wall
Loved the combination of the Great Wall and the Spa. The guide did a good job.
The not so good: The lunch was basic but it worked. The visit of the tea ceremony and the jade factory were too bad but if you're paying $130 you shouldn't be a "tool" to get further sales commission.
Note from Viator: This review is based on a previous itinerary. This tour no longer includes a jade factory stop or tea ceremony.
Picked up on time
Itinerary well arranged
Informative guide in the beginning
A quilt on rickshaw protected from winter wind
Asked 15 RMB for rickshaw tip
Tea ceremony = sales product presentation
Persuaded hard to buy tea
Guide busy w/ his gadget, guessing for myself
Note from Viator: This review is based on a previous itinerary. The tea ceremony is no longer included on this tour.
This trip was okay but there was a lot of "shopping" areas that were more than we expected. Our guide, Linda, was great and she did her job. The one area that we misunderstood about the tour was the arrangements for getting back to our hotel after the show that evening. It was totally our responsibility to get a cab and get back to our hotel as best as we could. We did not realize that until Linda said her job was done and left us at the theatre to finish up the night on our own.
Basically this tour was just paying for transportation to and from the hotel. You were taken to the Jade Factory an attempt was made to buy goods and then provided a very American Style Chinese lunch. Afterwards you were driven to the Shixiaguan area of the Great Wall where your driver handed you off to a guide who does not speak a word of English which made the 3 hour trek very difficult. This hike was very long and difficult, you must definitely be in good shape. It was very fun but because the wall is in such bad shape it was almost like walking through a jungle and no one prepared or told us that long pants and long sleeves would have been required. We were itchy for days following this trip!
