Quite good for what it is. The bus takes you to Potsdam and there is onboard commentary via headphones. You get to spend a couple of hours at Sanssouci. Inexpensive.
This should have been a much more enjoyable tour than it turned out to be. I was pleased that I got to see the three palaces and the grounds, but there was no indication in the ads for the tour that so much walking would be involved (perhaps four miles). Had I known that, I would have scheduled another company's tour. By the time we reached Sanssouci, the highlight of the tour, I was too tired to care. I am 70 but fit, and the lengthy walking could have been avoided had the route been shortened. The tour guide, Jim, was very knowledgeable, but he of necessity hurried us through each stop so that taking pictures was rushed. We were also given only 30 minutes for lunch and no time for stops in Potsdam itself. This tour needs to be re-thought.
The guide in Potsdam/Sanssouci was good but the remainder of the trip was terrible. First, a number of us were told our tickets were for a 1pm departure from Alexanderplatz. The bus driver drove us to Ku'damm where we waited for 1 hour for another group! What a waste. Why not have said there was only one departure point? There was nothing on the website/ticket that indicated this. On the return, the bus driver decided he would only stop at Ku'damm, leaving the Alexanderplatz passengers to find their way home. Not very good.
It was unexpectedly not just in English. The guide didn't get in the bus until before Sanssouci so we did not get much from Potsdam. The woman tried hard enough but we mostly needed to rush and she seemed exhausted. Better with 1 language and guide who comes from Berlin.
One cant believe how much of Berlin and Potsdam is being rebuilt and regenerated. In years to come Potsdam will be an entirely different tour with and entirely different scene. Once again the guide was very informative and had pictures and props to better explain certain areas of the tour. The only down side was that she was quietly spoken and her accent was very heavy, more easily understood when face to face but not so over a PA in the bus. The Sanssouci palace is much more beautiful in the spring and summer, but knew that and it is still lovely and peaceful at this time of year. An interesting place and well worth seeing. An easy day out, use it as a relax day.
In going to Potsdam we hit a real traffic jam out of Berlin. It probably took us an extra 12 hour to get there. Well, the tour of the city of Potsdam took the brunt of that delay. We went by the highlights of the city so quickly that I couldn't even take pictures. The tour of Sanssouci Palace was terrific I guess we made up the lost time in the city.
Good trip; however, it would have been better if we had spent more time at Sanssouci and less time on the bus. To explore the gardens at Sanssouci would have been nice. Our guide spoke in German first and then repeated in English, which meant half of our time was spent listening to a language which we didn't understand, and it was time consuming.
We had to see a lot of things in a short time. No time to walk in Sanssouci gardens, but ok, it was not in schedule. The Palace itself wasn't so impressive but it is a good experience. It is too hard to find the meeting point 'opposite Park Inn Hotel' because every place around Alexander Platz is opposite!
Good guide in Potsdam. Tour included old GDR and Russian forces use of Potsdam as well as the Sanssouci Palace. Palace visit small group well organised and highly recommended.
We were very pleased with the commentary on the bus and the guide at Sanssouci. We thoroughly enjoyed Sanssouci.
