Doing what: 2-Hour Big Island Helicopter Flight from Kona

We had a fantastic 2-hr Big Island helicopter trip from Kona. My husband, my parents and I all enjoyed seeing the spectacular scenery of the volcanoes, waterfalls and coastline from the air. My mum wanted to come to Hawaii just to spend time looking at volcanoes and the best view of them was from the air.
Our safety was very important for the crew.
All passengers got the opportunity to take photographs and our pilot was well informed and very generous with his time and our questions.
I would recommend this trip unreservedly to anybody wanting a complete overview of the Big Island of Hawaii - helicopter is the best way to see all there is to see!
Thanks for a great trip (Viator and Paradise Helicopters).

Doing what: Fire and Falls Helicopter Adventure from Hilo

Awesome! Would recommend to everyone to see the volcanoes by air as well as visit the National Park and see it by foot also.

Doing what: 2-Hour Big Island Helicopter Flight from Kona

Excellent from pickup at hotel to organisation of taxi on departure the staff were friendly and competent. The trip itself was spectacular and made even better by the extremely competent pilot who was both informative about the places seen and considerate of the passengers by preparing them in advance for maneuvers made by the helicoptor.

Doing what: 2-Hour Big Island Helicopter Flight from Kona

Very disappointed. There were too many people in the helicopter. I was the person in the middle, I couldn't see much of the scenery or take any pictures. The middle seat needs to be eliminated. I paid full price to see very little and be squished. My husband had a window seat but couldn't take proper pictures since he was so tight that he couldn't view through his camera the picture he wanted to take. Our main focus for taking this flight was to get pictures of the volcano but we didn't spend much time at the lava sights but spent a lot more time at the waterfalls (which were beautiful) If we would have had a great experience we would have recommended to our family to take this. We did mention to the Paradise helicopter representative not to use the middle seat and everyone would have been much happier, but he wasn't receptive to this idea. If you are planning a helicopter trip, check to see if you will be overcrowded, otherwise you will be wasting your money.

All aspects of the tour were professional and put us at ease. We had great opportunities to take photos from different angles, and LARVA ROCKS!!!

I'll split this tour in half to give a fair review. The first half was very interesting. We stopped at 6000 feet for a cowboy stew at a "ghost town" farm. The ride up to the summit was beautiful with a few stops to get you acclimatised to the high altitude. The final push to the top is over a VERY bumpy road, so make sure you are fully hydrated or the altitude will give you a thumping headache! (Water is provided, do drink it!) The view from the top? Magnificent. You really do feel like you're on top of the world. Very, very cold but the parkas provided do a good job. Wear long trousers and wooly socks! 5 star rating for this bit.
The second half of the tour was back down at the Visitors centre at aboput 7000 feet. This is the star show, and although our guide was very passionate and informative on his subject, it was a little frustrating as 12 people stood around in the cold waiting for their 15 seconds to look through the one telescope at whatever it was he was pointing out. We ended up standing for around 2 hours during this bit - in a dusty carpark so nowhere to sit down. Could be better with either seating provided or with multiple telescopes so not so much "doing nothing" time.

Had a great time watching the sun set atop Mauna Kea. Driver was very knowledgeable and friendly. Stars show was great. He really knew his sky. Learned and saw so many things I never have before. Would definitely recommend.

Best bus of the bunch. Driver was very experienced and did an awesome job during the star gazing part of the trip. The sky was great!

Very enjoyable tour. Our guide was great. The views were amazing. A must see if you just love the outdoors! Food and snacks were very nice.

This trip was absolutely wonderful. Sunset on top of Mauna Kea is something we will never forget, and our guide gave us a fascinating crash course in astronomy, and other local information. This was an absolute highlight of our holiday, and we thoroughly recommend it.

Very enjoyable and informative tour. Never seen before such skyfull of stars! Tour guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable and the meal and hot chocolate were good.

What an excellent day and evening out. The guide was so interesting and gave lots of information .
