Our lady pilot explained everything very well and made sure everyone had a chance to see the lava flow and waterfalls from both sides of the helicopter. She even went by the cruise ship so that we could get some aerial shots of it.
A great experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hour helicopter ride from Kona. We were very disappointed when we were informed we could have paid another $50.00 and secured a window seat which we were never given the option of. However Viator made good, and offered us a 50% discount. So although one of us did not have the greatest view, the ride was still worth doing and the pilot did a magnificent job.

Wish it was longer. Not a lot of active lava visable, but the polot did her best to show us what was there. Learned a lot.

Realizing the check-in person at the counter, the pilot, and the ground crew people serve many passengers a day, day after day, the overall experience felt like just another ho hum day on the job for the Paradise personnel. But for us, the anticipation was for a very special, once-in-a-lifetime, bucket list type of adventure. The trip itself was safe and wonderful. The volcanoes, the falls, albeit from a rather high elevation, were amazing to see. However, the elderly couple seated up front with the pilot were quite disturbed that the passenger door had been removed and were unable to take photos for fear of falling out. Of course they were securely strapped in, but uncomfortable throughout the flight. So . . . on a return to Hilo, we would probably explore one of the other helicopter companies for a repeat sightseeing experience.

I thought the helicopter ride was by far the better part of this two part combo activity especially flying above the lava flow - pretty cool experience. I think it was a pretty expensive trip and I'm not sure I would do it again because of that price. The ziplines were pretty good and the guides were fun overall. The problem was it that we were left in Hilo for about 4.5 hours with nothing to do other than walk around. Not too much to do in Hilo without a car. The helicopter pilot was out giving tours to the cruiseline guests all day so that when it was time for our return trip to Kona he was pretty tired - not as enthusiastic - but still a very beautiful ride.

Helicopter trip was good but not great like I was expecting. We did see a lot of steam and one very small red spot of lava. the ocean entrance was just steam rising up, nothing like the pictures seen. The waterfall was an afterthought and quite ordinary as it was in the distance. Have been on helicopter trips elsewhere that where much better. Visiting the volcano park was far more interesting .

Weather was not ideal and pilot was good but not that informative. Exciting as a first helicopter ride but overall, just so-so.

This was our first trip to Hawaii and This Adventure Was Worth Every Single Penny. The Paradise Helicopter Pilot, Marco, was excellent, discussed everything, from what we were seeing and the locations' history. Minor turbulence was experienced once, but nobody was worried. The KapohoKine Adventure Tours took us to the 5th longest Zipline in the world. Amazing Ride and Super Safe Guides on the Lines! Greatly appreciated. The little kids (61lbs) with our group were so comfortable with the guides they were not afraid and even went down the lines first! When they didn't make it to the platform, the guides were retrieving them in moments. The Guides also were knowledgeable about the area and the history of the Big Island.
Absolutely a must do!! You will see some of the most amazing waterfalls and breathtaking views. Next time I come to the Big Island - I am Doing This Same Trip AGAIN!!

Loved the music on board, the commentary was wonderful. Randy was laughing hysterically most of the time because he was having so much fun. Your people are all charming and considerate. Your desk guy even drew us a map to get to Saddle Road at the end of the tour. Nothing but good, professional work by all involved. We were well cared for from start to finish. The flight itself was AMAZING. Thank you!

I would give customer service, and the entire staff, the highest possible rating. Our day should have been a disaster. Our hotel sent us to the wrong side of the Island, and my fiance broke her shoe, right before we were about to start our ride. Customer service saved our trip by switching us with another family so we had time to drive around the Island, and the receptionists lent my finance the sandles off her feet so my fiance could ride in the helicoptor. Every one from the pilot, to the ground crew, to customer service was extremely kind and helpful. My only complaint is that the lava flow shown in the advertising greatly exaggerates the amount of lava flow that is currently on the island.

This was a fun flight with amazing views. Seeing an active volcano from the air is incredible though the most beautiful parts were the lush sea cliffs and Waipio Valley. With current volcanic activity, this is the best way to see actual lava, especially going into the ocean. Alternative is to take a boat and the seas are apparently pretty choppy there though we didn’t take the boat. Note that 2 seats in the helicopter are rear facing so if you are prone to air sickness you may want to request not having those seats. I sat up front and had a great view but my fiance sat in a rear facing seat and didn’t feel terrific though she still enjoyed the views. 2 hours is a bit long all in one go. In hindsight I’d recommend paying a little more and doing the version that includes a stop midway at a secluded waterfall. Getting out to stretch would have been a nice break.

This helicopter tour is one of two ways to watch lava spew from active volcanoes and crash into the southeastern shore of the Big Island, creating magnificent plumes of white smoke. Truly an amazing view. This comprehensive aerial tour of the Big Island gives you the lay of the land while hovering over waterfalls, valleys, shorelines and (of course) Volcanoes National Park for plenty of picture-taking opportunities. This is a private tour that maxes out at 6 passengers, plus a pilot who points out the significant sites as he cruises along - sometimes as low as 1,500 feet. Tip: This is a two-hour long helicopter ride so if you prone to air-sickness, make sure to be prepared with medication before hand!
