Doing what: Big Island Parasailing Experience
This was amazing. The guides were very helpful and upbeat during the entire trip. If you want the best time, go the highest level up. I was able to see a small pod of whales having fun. It was scary and fun at the same time.

Doing what: Island Breeze Luau on the Big Island
The luau was very entertaining the whole family enjoyed it. The dancing, the songs and the food was fantastic. There was plenty to eat and drink for all ages, and there was never a lack of entertainment from start to finish.

Doing what: Volcano National Park Small Group Twilight Tour
Absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Mathew was the best guide ever. His knowledge, information and easy quips about the island, the volcanoes and the history of the people, kept us all informed, and sometimes laughing. Altho it did rain off and on, that did not deter our stops for sightseeing, walks and tours of interesting places. We highly recommend the TWIGHLITE TOUR as it give more of the visual aspects of the lava flows and steam vents. we WOULD do the same tour again should we visit the big island another time.

Doing what: Mauna Kea Summit and Stars Small Group Adventure Tour
Greatness! There is nothing like the sunset @ the top of the summit. The entire tour was wonderful. We left from the Kona location, our guide was Taj. He took great care of us! He taught us a lot about the Hawaiian culture, beliefs and about the BI in general. We learned more on this tour than we did in 2 weeks on the island. The food was surprisingly good (even the cornbread and we're from TX). The brownies and coco even better! The STARS - OMG, living in the city, it's easy 2 4get how many stars there r!!! Looking @ them thru a high powered telescope -whoa, spectacular! It's defiantly cold. Was wishing I had my long johns and UGG's, but worth braving the cold. We were there Feb/Mar so there was snow and crazy wind. Bathrooms along the way - not so great. But it's not like there's a gas station on every corner, so that is easily overlooked. This should be in the top 5 things 2 do while on the BI. If ur lucky enuff 2 get Taj, u have 2 ask him about "Andy's Star" and give him and Robert a big ole' "Hey Y'all" from T in TX!

Doing what: Small-Group Big Island Tour: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Kona Coffee Farm
Enjoyed this tour very much. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the areas. She was extremely personable and organized. The tour went very smoothly and timely. Our guide took very good care of us throughout the whole day. The lunch and dinner provided were good, as well as fun. Seeing the volcano after dark was awesome. Being in a small group for this tour was much nicer than being on a large bus tour.

Doing what: Lava Legends and Legacies Luau on the Big Island
An excellent luau. We had been to the one at the sister hotel on Maui a few days before, which was very good, but this one was even better, probably because it was smaller, only around 100 people. The imu (pig) was very fresh and all the rest of the food was lovely. Drinks flowed freely, unfortunately I was driving, so I was limited to punch, but apparently the wine was quite acceptable. The entertainment was also excellent, similar to that which we have seen before, but sufficiently different to make it interesting. I have seen the fire dance at least 6 times before, but this one was definitely the best, I think the lad was from Samoa and he was fantastic.

Doing what: Big Island Parasailing Experience
I have wanted to parasail for around 40 years, but have never had the guts! So I thought, well, if I don't do it now, I never will, so we went up, and it was brilliant! We had paid for 800 feet, but the lads sent us up 1200 feet, and charged us $20 extra when we got down! I got the impression this was quite normal! We sat on a metal bar, well strapped in, and took off-I was terrified, but it was actually very easy, and the views were amazing. We were up for about 12 minutes, you wouldn't want any longer because the bar gets a bit uncomfortable, and we landed easily on the boat (just in case you thought we landed in the sea!). Definitely a "must do".

Doing what: Kona Coffee and Craters
This was terrific! We had originally booked a half day trip, but Donna actually phoned me in Spain from Las Vegas to tell me that the tour was now a full day, but that Viator would make up the difference in cost, if we still wanted to take it, as it wasn't on the original day, then called me back to confirm! We did take it, and the company collected us from our hotel, which we had not expected, and took us to their office, where we picked up the off-road vehicle. The driver, Danny, was Hawaiian, and told us lots of stories about Hawaii and the various lava flows. He took us through gates to where no private cars or tour buses could go and we saw ancient craters and lava tubes. We then went to a coffee plantation, where there was plenty of coffee on offer (I don't drink coffee, but never mind!) and a nice picnic lunch was provided. Again, we had not expected this. We were shown coffee trees and how they grow, and how the coffee was extracted from the beans. We also saw a beautiful chameleon living in one of the trees. The jeep we travelled in was not too uncomfortable-I had been worried about spending all day in it, but provided you held on tight to the safety straps, it was fine. Then we were taken back to our hotel when we returned to the office. Great tour, highly recommended.
