Brazil is an enormous country—the fifth largest in the world—and home to some of the most astounding ecosystems and outrageous adventures on the planet. For active travelers, the sky is quite literally the limit (no hyperbole; hang gliding and parasailing are popular activities in Rio de Janeiro and all over the country). But it’s best to plan ahead.
For example, Brazil’s most iconic adventure destinations—the Amazon River and Iguassu Falls—are more than 3,000 km (1,860 miles) apart. Opportunities for hiking, biking, climbing, canyoning, caving, birding, rafting, kayaking and much more are found throughout the nation.
