There are plenty of ways to spend an evening out in Queensland, but few are as thrilling as a trip to the Cairns Night Zoo. This three-hour drinking and dining adventure takes travelers deep into the night where they’ll experience nocturnal wildlife and get up close with the outback.
Expert guides collect travelers at 7 p.m. sharp and shuttle them off for a taste of authentic Aussie BBQ—complete with steak, sausage, seafood and salad. After dinner and a few cold brews, guides lead guests into the dark of night in search of local wildlife. Travelers will learn how owls hunt, touch koalas and even do a bit of stargazing. There’s also instruction on traditional Aussie bush dancing for the truly fearless visitor.
The Night Zoo is open every Monday through Thursday and Saturday night from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tickets, including travel transfers, are $132 for adults and $66 for children 15 and younger. Experience-only tickets are $112 for adults and $56 for children.
