Drive between Monterey and Carmel on the scenic 17 mile drive and you will have to pay a toll but it's a spot worth paying a bit for. After all, the people who live there pay a lot more for these views. Not only does it cost to drive on the road but apparently they have even trademarked the image of one of the trees! Nevertheless, we loved looking at the houses and the beautiful ocean views and it only cost $9.50. You can stop at each of the marked vantage points or just drive straight through. In Pacific Grove we had lunch at a fabulous beachside diner and finished up with a cup of tea in the lovely Carmel.
