Canada Itineraries

Suggested Itineraries in Canada

America's attic? No way. Canada stands as tall and proud as its gorgeous mountains and fir trees. Whether you're into urban adventures, wilderness getaways, or a little of both, Canada has the spectrum covered. Check out our suggestions for a great summer or winter escape across the Great White North. O Canada!

British Columbia - Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler

British Columbia is all about natural wonders, even the cities are lush with green landscapes. You can't miss Canada's arguably most famous patch of cultivated greenery, Victoria's Butchart Gardens. Or if you prefer the sea to land, head out on a whale watching expedition from Vancouver or Victoria.

If you're looking for a challenge in the great outdoors, then you can't go wrong with a trip to Whistler, the adventure capital of Canada. Have a ball scrambling over glaciers in winter or rock climbing and zipline rides in summer.

Spending a little extra time west? Pop across the border to Seattle, it's just a two hour drive south.

Ontario - Toronto & Ottawa

If you're lucky enough to be in Toronto in September, and you like movies, then you must check out the Toronto Film Festival - an international, star studded, cinematic event. No tickets? No problem. In our experience standing in the rush line yields success more often than not.

In between films, or any other time of year, enjoy Toronto's eclectic urban life, and shimmering Great Lake. The best way to take in Toronto's towering skyscrapers is from the air - try a helicopter tour. If you're impressed with the view from above, head to the top of the TD Bank Tower for dinner at Canoe, a great restaurant serving excellent Canadian wines and cuisine. If you prefer dinner closer to the ground, head to Canoe's equally tasty neighbor in the base of the tower, Bymark.

Since you're so close, a day trip over to Niagara Falls is in order. See the falls up close on the Maid of the Mist, and if you opt for the evening tour you might catch the Friday night fireworks over the Niagara Falls.

Québec - Montréal & Québec City

Are you in Europe or Canada? If you aren't sure you must be in Québec.

A cosmopolitan treat, Montréal has lively arts, fantastic food and wonderful shopping. Get your bearings on a walking or bike tour, or if the weather is less favorable a double decker bus. Hint: In winter, stick to the underground. Miles of train stations and buildings connect in downtown Montréal, alleviating much of the need to ever step outside. If you're there for Halloween, or just like a good scare, you can't go wrong with the historically haunting Montréal Ghost Tour. If you find yourself peering longingly at the mountains beyond Montréal, take a trip to the Laurentian Mountains.

From Montréal it's a short drive or hop on the train to Québec City. One of the first European settlements in North America (the city turns 400 in 2008!), Québec City has beautifully preserved historic architecture, best checked out on a walking tour. Or skim the skyline on a hot air balloon flight. For upcoming 400 anniversaire festivit?s, check out the Québec City's official anniversary site.

Not Enough Canada?

Keep heading east to Nova Scotia for some great seafood and picturesque coves. Or jump on one of Canada's famous Rocky Mountaineer trains and criss-cross your way across the countryside while enjoying spectacular views.
