Doing what: Chichen Itza Day Trip from Cancun

We had a great day and this was great value for money. The guide was very good and the transportation was really comfortable. Lunch could have been better and it wasn't at the Mayaland restaurant as advertised but at a place called Aquatica. And there could have been a little less selling on the trip - the Mayan calendars, the massage stones, the certificates of special dates in Mayan whatever..too much. It was a hot day and I just wanted to sleep on the bus. But loved all the historical and cultural information the guide gave us.

The tour was nice but just very short time spending in Itza, I prefer to do more in there than visiting the village with the native crafts which I can browse in Cancun market.

Vehicle had a flat tire so arrival was delayed. Standing around during excessively lengthy explanations was uncomfortable. I went back to the start point and bought an interesting book on Mexico's history. OTHERWISE, it would have been a complete waste of time.

Good other than the tour guide on bus pushed local art purchase way too much.

The guides were knowledgeable and there is much to be learnt about Mayans and their influence on the solar calendar. However, the entire toulr is less about culture and more about selling services and products.

Doing what: Chichen Itza Day Trip from Cancun

Sadly this was the worst trip of our Cancun experience. We were gone for 13 hours but were only at Chichen Itza for 2 1/2 hours because they drove us around different towns all day. The buffet was hardly a meal and several people were sick by the end of the night. I advise you to look elsewhere.

we choose English tour guide, but the guide spoke spanish most of the time. We spend too much time on the way for shopping and when we arrived Chichen Itza it's 3:00pm, we only have two hours including the tour instruction, and some of the visiting sites are close at 4:30.

Doing what: Chichen Itza Day Trip from Cancun

We have used Viator all over the world and have never been disappointed. This tour to Chichen Itza, however, left a lot to be desired. First, I appreciated the fact that the tour guide spent most of the two plus hour bus ride educating us about the Mayan culture. Unfortunately, a large part of the presentation was pushing us to buy various products available for sale at several scheduled tourist-trap stops. The tour guide also spent a lot of time hyping the “authentic Mexican meal” included with the tour. He then drove us to a bug infested dining hall where we were served a buffet lunch of spaghetti, rice, cut up hot dogs and onion rings along with several other bus loads full of tourists. It was absolutely disgusting. I did notice, however, that the various tour guides sat in another part of the restaurant and were served a meal that looked edible. When we finally made it to Chichen Itza, the guide handed us off to another tour guide who conducted the actual tour.

loved chichen itza; but the trip there could have been significantly improved. The tour consisted of a stop over to a restruant that the food was barely edible. We then stopped at a local market that I did not remember seeing on the iteriary. The tour guide Marco Polo said that this was the best area to shop at and it supports the local Maya people and to make sure you get a receipt as there are "lots of artifacts in the area just lying around and customs will not know if it is something that is centuries old or just made by the local people without a receipt". This was a total waste of time as the same objects were being sold at Chicen Itza as the local shop for very similiar prices. Also, customs did not ask us for any receipts and most of our items were actually purchased at Chicen Itza. We also did not get to the ruins until after 3 pm instead of the 1 pm that the itineray states. That was a big let down as I did not spend my money and time to be driving in a bus; I wanted to see the ruins. The tour guide at the ruins was great, Jose.

I have never payed so much money to be brought from one shopping mall to the other. The food quality is low. The guide explained for 2hrs the Maya Calendar which a 8 year old can understand in 15 min. The rest of the trip he is making you feeling guilty for having money and not tipping every Maya on the way a fortune.
I would have prefered to hear something about Mayan gods, beliefs, traditions, foods, and songs and dances instead of 120 min or more about the only fact the guide seems to know - a calendar ...
this trip ruined a complete day of my 3 day holiday. I was happy that the purchase of the second trip went wrong.

It was absolutely fabulous! Mayaland Hotel is a great experience too. Pick-up was right on time and trip very pleasant. Could not ask for more. Thank you!

Chichen Itza … Fantastic, Excellent place to go. It is one of the seven wonder of the ancient world, and the people (staff) at Chichen Itza are the best. Especially thank to our tour guide, he is personable, well informed and love his job, I highly recommended to book with Viator tours if you are going to visit Cancun

It was wonderful from the very beginning to the very end. Tour guide picked my daughter and I up at the front door of our resort right on time. Everyone ivolved was very effeicient and our tour guide Victor was beyond knowledgeable about the Mayan culture. Loved the buffet lunch. Everything was just wonderful. Would highly highly highly recommend this tour to anyone. It was great!
