Doing what: Chichen Itza Day Trip from Cancun

The archeological site itself was very interesting, but out of a 12 hour day we only had a couple of hours at the site. The side trip to a cenote was interesting, but I would have much prefered longer at Chichen Itza. A lunch stop was included but the canteen food was mediocre and there was 1/2 hr line to get it. But my biggest complaint is the sales efforts - the tour guide trys to sell things on the bus as part of his narrative (he gets a cut) and they take you to a "Mayan village" which is nothing but a trinket mall (tour guide gets a cut). The end result is that you have less time at Chichen Itza and you cannot really trust what the tour guide says because it is commercially motivated.

The tour guide Vik was very much less than professional. He constantly repeated himself and lectured the group on items to be purchased at the gift shop. I truly believe he got a kick-back from the gift shop. After the tour at the ruins, he stopped the bus with all of us on it and ran into the same gift shop to get a soda and a bottle of water while we sat in the bus waiting on him. He also had the audasity to ask for a tip and said 'please no coins, only paper money tips'.
The over all agenda was also very dissapointing. As it turned out, we only had about 2 hours at the ruins. Most of the time was wasted at the gift shop and the lunch buffet. We were not told that drinks were not included at lunch either. The charge was not that great, but it would have been nice to know up front that it was not included. It would also have been good to know that there was not anything to drink while on the bus.
The cenote was not all that great either. It was very crowded as there were at least 7 buses there at the same time.
The theme for the entire day was how to extract more money from us! I would like to go back to Cancun to see Chichen Itza and spend more time at the ruins, but I would not use your company to get there.
Very dissapointing service!

It was Horrible Horrible Horrible. We were told the van would come pick us up at the resort. Then we were contacted the night before to meet the van outside the resort at 7.20 am. So we took a cab and went there. After we got in the van driver went inside the resort to pick up 7 other passeengers. Waste of our cab fare. Anyway we went to the meeting point from where we had to go to Chi chin itza. The bus was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. This was a 14 hour trip and the bus was horrible. The seats at the back were all squished up with no leg room. The seat would not recline. When we told the bus driver he did not care. The bus tour guides were supposed to be bilingual but spoke mostly spanish . The little English they spoke could not be undertood at all. They stopped at a Cenote without telling us where we were stopping. For the most part we kept guessing where we were. Then they stopped at a market and wasted 1 hour of our time. Nobody bought anything - there is a nice market at Chi Chin itza where we could have shopped easily instead of wasting an hour enroute. We had to wait 45 minutes at the lunch stop before we could have lunch. It is very hard to wait with a child. We did not get lunch until 2 pm. It was 3 pm by the time we reached chichin itza!!!! All because of those stupid sales gimmicks and bad organization. We were at the site for only 1 hour 45 minutes and then had to head back. We did not get back to our hotel until 9.30 pm. We did not have enough time at Chi Chin Itza to look at the ruins. The entire purpose of the trip was defeated. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. They really could organize ths much better by taking the tourists directly to Chi Chin Itza and back. There is a Cenote, a market and lunch available all at the site. We could not see the cenote at chi chin because there was no time. Nor coud we see the astronomy tower. It was a shame that the trip was very poorly organized. We wished we had not taken this tour.

For US$65 a person, you can't go wrong! It's a full day that includes transportation, an awesome time at a cenote, lunch and shopping in a mayan village and finally the entire afternoon to explore chichen itza. The guides were excellent and share a lot of information. It's a great tour for people who love to learn about different cultures.

My wife an I took the tour and LOVED it! the guide was so informative and friendly! It was a full day adventure to a cenote first then to Chichen Itza. The lunch was very good food and great entertainment as the staff did dancing and played their traditional music. My only complaint is that we only got to spend about one and a half hours at the actual site. We would have liked to spend another hour there. The two hour bus ride to and from was comfortable and our quide showed us different things about the area that we would have not known other wise.

Great, personalized tour.

It is so nice to have people who truly love what they are doing share that with you, and that is what they did. They went above and beyond!

Its a long day out but well worth the effort. Swimming in the cenote is wonderful. Chichen Itza was breath taking. We had a fantastic guide. Would do it again. Fantastic value for money.

Very good tour, was highlight of my trip. Must take this tour while you are in cancun. Tour guide was very informative. Easy pick-up and drop off. Loved it

Our family, ranging in age from 9 to 41 had a great time! We highly recommend this excursion. Not a 5 star rating because we didnt realize that there wasn't anyone taking pictures while we were doing our activities. So take a camera, and preferrably a water-proof camera to record the memories.

Chicken Itza is a pretty amazing place. We had a good guide, learned a lot about Mayan history in a short time and in a fun way. I really recommend taking a walk in the remains of the village, the site is pretty big. Don't buy souvenirs on the way, the sellers inside have much lower prices!
