Monaco Tours from Cannes
Cannes. Monaco. Two names that conjure up images of the glamorous life. And the road that links them? The French Riviera’s famous Grand Corniche, one of the world’s most spectacular drives with views across the coves and capes that make up the lovely Cote d’Azur. Plus that blue, blue water.

Cannes itself is a small town with elegant hotels along the beachfront promenade and a pretty historic town up the slopes of the hill behind. Once a year it literally rolls out the red carpet for the film festival, but any other time of the year, after a day’s exploring, eating and sunbathing you’ll be ready to hit the year-round glamor of Monaco.

By road or rail, Monaco is easy to visit in a day, the journey taking only about an hour each way by rail, longer by road with all those twists and turns and views to admire. Monaco itself is small – the population is 35,000 - with almost the whole country filled by its city Monte Carlo. The apartment buildings climb steeply up the hill behind the port, which is usually full of expensive yachts and once a year is raced around by Formula One cars.

Monaco is the wealthiest country in the world and has zero unemployment. The casino sits prettily and temptingly on a cliff top next to the town, while on the far side of Monte Carlo and its expensive shops, is the Grimaldi Royal Family’s castle, home of Prince Albert II, Ruler of the Principality of Monaco.

Nearby is an old part of town where you’ll find shops and restaurants without the rich and famous and their price tags. If you have time on the way back to Cannes, it’s worth exploring the many small towns that dot the French Riviera: Eze, Nice, Antibes.

Doing what: Monaco and Eze Small Group Day Trip from Nice

Excellent tour covering Monaco and Eze. The perfumery at Eze is interesting to see. We were just in time to watch the changing of the guards at the palace but the guide could have avoided cutting it so fine. Monaco by day is nice but I guess it looks cooler by night.

Doing what: Monaco and Eze Small Group Day Trip from Nice

A great trip although sitting in the rear seats of the minivan made it difficult to hear the guide especially whilst driving. Unfortunately it rained in Eze but it was still well worth a look. We opted to skip the perfumery tour here as there were bus loads in. Save it for A visit to Grasse and enjoy Eze. A good day of contrasts seeing old world charm and high rises of Monaco. Relax and enjoy without the effort of finding everything yourself and getting dropped off back at your hotel.
