Christmas in Cape Town
Christmas conjures up images of snowflakes, warm drinks, and bundling up against the cold – unless, of course, you’re in the Southern Hemisphere. If you want your Christmas cheer to come right in the middle of summer, then Cape Town is a great place to be. Of course, South Africans still celebrate Christmas with many familiar traditions – they just get to do that while they’re barefoot on the beach.

Christmas in Cape Town is a public holiday, so most things will be closed – including many restaurants and shops. The big holiday feast is typically eaten at home with family, so if you’re visiting you’ll need to plan ahead and scout out a restaurant that will be open.
