The trip was amazing. The tour guides were very informative and friendly and the champagne was divine. I loved the fact that we were able to explore Reims for lunch and some souvenir shopping before the next tour.

Doing what: Champagne Region Day Trip from Paris

This trip was fantastic. Two wineries and three champagnes, although we only tasted two champagnes, but the Dom Perignon takes much longer to produce and therefore is too expensive to give away. But both tours were interesting, in English and full of great information about creating and aging the wines, "champagne." We also had plenty of our own time for a relaxing lunch and shopping in Eparney.

Full tourist bus to Champaign Country. While it does say the tour is in English - it was also in Russian, Japanese and Spanish - it takes a little getting used too, but you learn to tune out the extra languages.

Our first stop was Mumm's - the factory guide was not the most proficient English speaker - but did ok. After a brief video of the history of Mumm's (pronounced Mooms) -we were taken on a tour of the cellars and the chanpaign makng process.

For those who wished, a quick tour was given of the Cathedral - though majestic, it's a re-build after being destroyed during World War I. Enough time was gicen to grab lunch and walk around before head for Moet and Chandon.

There is no question the Moet is the more upscale of the two name brands we visited. From the marble reception area to a deeper history lesson on the company. The cellars were unbelievable! Never mind the millions of bottles of Moet - being aged in the bottle in different states - but also the million bottles or so of Dom Perignon.

Both wineries offered a one glass per customer tasting.

All in all a nice way to spend the day.

Doing what: Champagne Region Day Trip from Paris

I was very disappointed in the champagne tour. We purchased a trip to the Moet and Chandon and Mumm vineyards and were not informed until we were on the road to Champagne that we would not be going to either of those facilities. Instead we were taken to a small processing facility in Reims and another small vintner. That was not the trip we paid for. The logistics for the trip were also very poor. We stopped for a brief 20 minutes at a cathedral, which we did not even get a chance to see because it took us 20 minutes to find a restroom, then we continued to the processing facility then back to the cathedral area for lunch. We only had 1.5 hours for lunch and very little was open. We stopped at the first restaurant that was open and waited 1 hour for our meal so we only had 15 minutes to eat before racing back to the bus. We were chastised for being five minutes late. From there we went to the small vintner, where we received one glass of champagne then sat around because there was nothing to do. We ended up heading back to Paris early because everyone was bored.

I would recommend in the future, the tour should be what is advertised. If that is not possible, then a notification should be sent to the customers or a discount provided. Also, if we would have gone straight to the first processing facility then been given 2 – 2.5 hours for lunch and exploration of the city before going to the final vintner, we would have had time to enjoy the city and the trip instead of being rushed to a place where there was nothing to do. I would recommend better communication and logistics in the future.

Doing what: G.H. Mumm Champagne House Cellar Tour

Very interesting and informative tour. We chose the Grand Cru tour and tasting and were pleasantly surprised to receive two full glasses of different champagnes to try. We would have like a little more time to look around the museum but overall and excellent experience.

We enjoyed the Mumm tour, however we were the last group of the day and the guide had obviously had enough. He was not particularly engaging. The cellars are interesting, although much of it is for show, and the tasting at the end is always good.

Very disappointing we were informed once on the bus that we were not going to any of the listed vineyards of Moet or Mummes, I only booked it to see them, instead we went to other smaller growers. They would of known if closed over the Xmas holidays.Should not of been available these days.
