Doing what: Half-Day Chengdu Panda Breeding Center Tour with Optional Baby Panda Holding
Loved this tour. I had been dreaming about seeing the pandas since I can't remember. Booked to hold the panda, after all, I wasn't going to fly half way around the world to miss out. Our tour guide Carol picked us up from our hotel. There was just two of us. It was a long drive (2 hours each way to Wolong). We saw pandas almost straight off the zoo bus. They were far closer than I imagined they would be. There were many. It was fantastic. Carol took us to a few different locations and gave us some interesting information. We had our photo session locked in for 11am. I was very excited. Unfortunately, the panda was already on the seat and when I asked the person in charge if I could touch him (because here in Australia we do not just start touching wild animals without first checking) he said "NO". This was disappointing seeing as I booked a tour which said I could hold one, I paid for the opportunity and I had come all the way from Australia to do so but I accepted it. We were able to have photos for probably only 20 seconds and we only got 4 each which isn't really much. The next girl who came in after me just wrapped her arm around the panda but wasn't told off. This was very disappointing for me. Still, I saw many gorgeous pandas and the tour was well organised. We got dropped back off just as advertised.

The tour was great! They picked me up right in front of my hotel. My tour guide spoke very good English, she was a delight. Thank you.

The trip was fantastic, started with a small hickup caused by very late booking, but even that was sorted out very quickly. Great guide and amazing place to see.

I really enjoyed this tour, the downside was there was a lot of people booked in on the day I booked (Xmas day!) so I felt slightly rushed. However, knowing the money is part donation, plus a DVD, certficate and also a hoodie to commemorate is brilliant. The pandas are so adorable - lifetime treat!

Loved it. They take a lot of precautions with making you wear robe and gloves however they take a lot of pictures as the panda just chomps away

Doing what: Sichuan Culture Show and Hot Pot Dinner in Chengdu
Very nice, even though I didn't know chinese. Face changing, shadow puppets and puppets were my favorite. Food was great and not as greasy as the hot pot I've had in Shanghai

Panda' Galore :o)
Just a short drive from Chengdu CBD, my local guide, Green, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable of the Panda history and the successes of the breeding program.
These animals have an 800 million year old history - they outlasted the dinasours!!!
Go early in the morning while the Panda's are still eating their breakfast, they can be quite close to fences and are fascinating to watch.
We toured the various enclosures with the "teenagers" being the most active during meal time.
The baby Panda's in the Nursery are just starting to crawl with a more adventerous cub climbing along the crib looking at the kids through the glass.
This is a good half day tour.

Great tour, well organized and very accommodating guide and driver. The lunch was good, and we feel like we got to see and do everything we wanted. The tour guide's English was limited, but she was very patient with all of our questions. Definitely recommend!

Unfortunately the week I had booked to hold a Panda the Centre decided to not allow it, but my refund was presented to me on the day and I had the privelege of a one on one tour guide which was a fabulous way to see the Panda's and learn about Chengdu. I have used viator to also book a trip to the zoo in Singapore and I have been impressed both times with their professionalism and customer service. Congratulations :)

My husband and I really had a great time visiting the Panda breeding centre, it was the first time we had both seen Panda's ever and there were so many Panda's to see. Our guide was so lovely and helpful and full of information and made our visit even more special. Thank you for a great time, will use you again as we have done so before when we were at Iceland and definately will recommend anyone to use you services. Sylvia and Paul x

Doing what: Sichuan Culture Show and Hot Pot Dinner in Chengdu
Our guide was really lovely, and most informative on Sichuan lifestyle and culture. Dinner was superb - believe it when they say Sichuan food is spicy! The show had some great acts - the puppets were brilliant, the acrobatics were unbelievable and the final act - well you have to see it for yourself! (Some of the other acts were a bit ordinary though.) Over all a most enjoyable evening, however we thought it a bit strange that the guide AND the driver tucked into dinner with us at our table. On our (many) other tours the guide has sometimes joined us, but never the driver as well. We had been told that our meal was very special and too expensive for local people, so we felt our Viator payment had covered an extra meal.
