One of Chicago’s most stunning parks, Millennium Park - part of larger Grant Park - is a showcase for modern architecture. It features, among other highlights, the McCormick Tribune Ice Skating Rink, the peristyle at Wrigley Square, the Joan W. and Irving B. Harris Theater for Music and Dance, AT&T Plaza, Chase Promenade, and the Trees in Millennium Park. Millennium Park is often considered the largest roof garden in the world, having been built on top of a railroad yard and large parking garages.

A major highlight is Frank Gehry's 120 foot (36 meter) high swooping silver band shell anchors what is, in essence, an outdoor modern design gallery. It includes Jaume Plensa's 50 ft (15 m) high Crown Fountain that projects video images of locals spitting out water, gargoyle fountain-style. Kids of all ages will surely love it.

Also here is the famous Cloud Gate sculpture, otherwise known as “the Bean,” a highly polished reflective steel sculpture. The curved, mirror-like surface of the sculpture provides striking reflections of visitors, the city skyline (particularly the historic Michigan Avenue "Streetwall"), and the sky.

This is a must-do tour for anyone visiting Chicago for the first time. We hopped off/on 3 times: once for lunch, once for the Sear's Tower and once for Millenium Park. Highly recommend!

Doing what: Chicago Segway Tour

I booked this trip for myself and four other friends -we are between 50 - 70 yrs old. None of us had ever been on a Segway before and were a little nervous. We had an absolute blast and what a fun way to see the city ! Staff was so welcoming and helpful ( I got lost on my way to the tour location and they stayed on the phone giving me- literally- step by step directions!) Being a Safety and Risk Supervisor, I was impressed with their attention and commitment to safe operations. Our guide Meadows was patient and knowledgable making the tour fun and comfortable for everyone. We all had such a good time and talked about it so much after that the other 12 ladies in our travel group were sorry they didn't take the tour too!! I enjoyed it so much my husband and I will be taking the tour with this company again in San Fransisco next month. I highly recommend this tour-Fun, Fun, Fun.
