Chile has many beautiful beaches, from the north, where it borders with Peru, down to several hours’ drive south from Santiago. If you’re expecting the tepid, bathwater-temperature beaches of the Caribbean though, some of Chile’s beaches will surprise you. In the Norte Chico and Norte Grande (slightly southern north, and more far north), the water is warmer than it is further south, where the cool Humboldt current sweeps up from Antarctica, and chills Chile’s water to the perfect fishing grounds for seafood and fish.
