Amazing experience! Wonderful landscapes to begin with, the dolphins are very social and it's so much fun to have them swimming right next to you! The staff is very enthusiastic and well informed. The water is cold, but the suits really help. Definitely a must-do if you are in the area!
Weather a cold and windy. Boat's generator not working so no tea and coffee. Only say one of lot of dolphins
A thoroughly enjoyable harbour cruise on a modern vessel with excellent commentary from the captain. We saw numerous Hector Dolphins, who delighted in swimming all around the boat, a penguin and some seals, as well as lots of birdlife. On a cautionary note, the sea can become very rough near the harbour entrance into the Pacific Ocean.
Black cat were brilliant due to traffic problems we arrived late and they put us on the swim with dolphin cruise instead. we had wonderful views of hectors dolphins and penguins swimming alongside boat for almost the entire trip.would recommend this company for both harbour cruise and swim with dolphins.
Excellent.....staff was inviting and entertaining. We saw numerous dolphins and they swam right up to the group!! Great experience......
Ddint find any dolphins the day I went-bad luck and that's nature of course. But having loved the Kaikoura dolphin swim I was really guted this one didn't work out and I didn't have time to try again. I'm sure if you find the dolphins it's amazing so dont pay too much notice to this review!
Word of warning: at the moment (May/June 2011) Christchurch isnt very busy so this tour may not happen at all, or not on the day you want it to. My 2 dolphin swims got moved around to fit in with numbers so you may need to be flexible.
Akaroa Harbour is a very nice place to visit if you are in Christchurch. We rented a car and drove 1 and 1/2 hours from Christchurch to Akaroa. The view along the journal was spectacular. The cruise was great and we did manage to see penguine and dolphins on that day. We were given a nice post card to remember after the cruise. We had a great trip.
Cute little dolphins. They swim by so fast though. Water was very cold, but the wetsuits helped. Not the same as swimming with the dolphins at Seaworld, but still a good experience.
It was a highlight to swim with the Hector dolphins. The dolphin swim was the best part of this trip, fairly long day but worth while.
Great trip. John, my guide was very friendly and seemed to know everything about the flora and fauna that we came across on the trip. it was very well planned and gives you a chance to get out of the city and see more of the countryside. the sights on the cruise were incredible.
>Very cool experience! You can't touch the dolphins (which they explain), but it's really neat when they swim through the group! The water is very cold... but the wet suits and socks they give you keep you pretty warm. Don't forget your towel!
Fantastic! Loved everything about the tour, except perhaps the sea sickness. A really enjoyable and memorable day! Would recommend to anyone.
I highly recommend swimming with the dolphins, it was a wedding present for me, and it was the best one i have ever had, and i would do it again next time we are in New Zealand. I have told every one about it, thank you for advertising it for us to find and book.
