Nightlife in Cologne
By Viator, August 2013
Cologne’s hippest nightclubs, bars and breweries are clustered around the Hohenzollenring and Ehrenfeld districts, with many clubs staying open until the early-morning hours and everything from chilled out jazz bars and eclectic live music bars to strobe-flickering techno clubs. Cologne is also renowned as a center for gay arts and culture, and the city’s hosts a number of gay clubs and bars that are a hit with both straight and gay visitors, along with hosting the country’s biggest annual Gay Pride Parade.
You don’t have to hit the clubs to have a good time in Cologne – check out a show at the grand Schauspielhaus theater complex, relax in one of the city’s traditional beer gardens in the Altstadt district, or head to the Belgian Quarter (Belgische Viertel), home to the city’s most fashionable bars and restaurants. For a romantic evening, watch the sunset over the Rhine in one of the many riverside restaurants or take to the water on a Rhine River dinner cruise, complete with a private floating DJ.
