Clear. Cool.
7 day forecast »
Copenhagen has been Denmark's capital for 600 years. It's an appealing and largely low-rise city. Church steeples punctuate the skyline, with only a couple of modern hotels marring the view.
No matter what your interests, Copenhagen has plenty on offer. Historic or modern, sleek shops or cozy cafes - it's all nestled right in the heart of a compact city and presented with typical Scandinavian assurance and flair.

Suggested Itineraries: Copenhagen
Although Copenhagen offers plenty of good dining options, from old-fashioned Danish pubs to trendy fusion cafes, nothing epitomizes Danish food more than smörrebröd (literally 'buttered bread'), an open-faced sandwich that ranges from very basic fare to elaborately sculpted creations.
Copenhagen is a 24-hour party city. For free entertainment simply stroll along Strøget, especially between Nytorv and Höjbro Plads, which in the late afternoon and evening is a bit like an impromptu three-ring circus with musicians, magicians, jugglers and other street performers.
