Unexpectedly Good.
We have lived in Estepona for 11 years. After 8 years, we finally got around to visiting Selwo. It is a bit pricey to get in (around 25e / 18+) and car parking. If you look at a map of the area, Selwo is sandwiched between the A7 coast road and the AP7 toll road. You think and quot; well, it can't be very big in there. and quot;
You will be wrong. On entering, there is a cheetah enclosure. You then walk towards the safari open buses and lots of peacocks are strutting and displaying all around you. The disappointing thing about the bus is that the commentary by the driver is in machine-gun Spanish and even if you understood this, it sounds like a British Rail announcer. There is an area covered with netting. Looks like a tomato-growing area. It is actually a vast aviary which you walk through on the way out. At the top of the hill, your breath will be taken away, but I won't tell you why !!!
First stop is reptile house; kiosk; shop/cafe and tigers that are separated from you only by thick glass. There is a falcon display as well. When finished here you take the second bus ride through loads of animal areas
and end up at the unimpressive cafeteria. Big, clean but only having pizzas and the like. Going back is fun, going along rope-bridges, or you can wait for the bus.
Do walk through the aviary. Memorable. We live here in Villa Tranquilla, Estepona providing unique apartments in a large quiet villa o/l the ocean. Looking for accommodation - you could do worse.
