A very pleasant day. Swimming in the waterholes was great but very dangerous on slippery rocks to get in.
Least enjoyable tour of our holiday. We travelled in a mini bus - no cold water available (unlike all other tours which carried ample cold water). The main emphasis of our guide was to get it over with as quickly as possible, fo example the first thing he told us on the bus was that we would return an hour earlier than scheduled. He then seemed to focus on going as fast as possible between stopping points. Not a good day. We personally found a two hour stop at the Wangi Falls was too long, particularly as we did not want to swim. Even the swimmers found it too long.
Fantastic day trip, if you do anything in Darwin do this trip. It allows you to see a lot and experience outside of Darwin. The guide we had was very informative and the day was well balanced, something for everyone, even a swim in the most incredible water whole...
Nice tour guide, lots of information and interesting facts. The park is lovely, the waterfalls very pretty.
We visited Litchfield National Park on our way from Kakadu back to Darwin. It's an easy day trip and definitely worth it. In the park, we saw 2 different types of termites - the magnetic termite mounds and the cathedral termite mounds. The magnetic termite mounds, for which the park is famous, are pretty amazing! In addition to these, the park is a great place for a swim as there are lots of nice fresh rock pools, and no worry about crocodiles! Just need to check at the park entrance to make sure the 'gators are not sneaking in during rainy season! The Florence Falls were the nicest, not only because you can swim in, but there is a nice walk around that's worth it too.
This trip was probably the best we have ever taken. The driver / guide, Max, was wonderful. His knowledge of the area and sites was remarkable, such that I at first thought he was playing a recording, but no, it was just his obvious love of the region that came over in his commentaries. The Crocodile Hotel was excellent, especially the evening buffet, which we felt was good value for money. The All Seasons hotel /lodge was adequate but was obviously showing signs of tiredness. The sheets were clean but were not sparkling white and had little holes in them. The river cruise along The Katherine river, and the buffet supper, were amazing. Overall though it was a brilliant tour and really added to our once in a lifetime trip round Australia and has given us some wonderful memories to look back on now we are back in the cold, wet UK. Thank you.
it's ok to do, only because in darwin there's nothing else to do! so you visit the parks, if you are lucky you see some crocodiles, its very hot, many many flies around, food is not good, you are longer in the bus than outside... this is a kind of holidays..!
Fantastic. My husband was unable to swim at Florence falls, due to a disability, but thoroughly enjoyed splashing in "Buley Holes". I swam and splashed around in both.
We saw a lot, but didn't have enough time to go swimming nor to dry off and change clothes. Our guide was ok, but talked only dryly about the history. He did not document the places of interest. Food was not included. And the sandwich, which one had to buy, was too expensive for the quality. I would never do this trip again nor recommend it!
It was a great day, absolutely jam packed. We were well looked after. I would recommend it to a mature person as I was the youngest person on the trip.
Every tour is only as good as the tour guide, our guide really made our tour a wonderful day out. Litchfield Park is such a beautiful park with amazing water falls and pools. When you add the amazing knowledge & antidotes of the guide it just makes it perfect.
A long day with a lot of travelling. Some older people on our trip found the walks to the various falls very arduous in the heat, so be aware of this.
Everything happened like clockwork, but with a very friendly and informative background. The tour leader was very interesting and friendly and was really interested in us and what we wanted from the experience. It was a very relaxing, hassle-free day. Thanks!!!
Great trip. Litchfield is an excellent choice if you're already in Darwin. Everything worked well, definitely recommending this.
