Experience Medieval Europe at Altos de Chavon

La Romana, Dominican Republic is home to one of the most extravagant and unique attractions in the Caribbean. Altos de Chavon is a recreation of an entire medieval European village, complete with cobblestone streets and a fountain plaza leading to a beautiful Catholic Church.

Altos de Chavon is perched on a stunning cliff overlooking the river and was conceived by a former Hollywood set designer. When he saw the stone offal generated by the destruction of a nearby mountain to make a bridge, he was inspired to use what otherwise might be waste to create a sixteenth century Mediterranean village. The creators’ incredible attention to detail and historical accuracy has resulted in a truly authentic experience.
