When venturing to a new destination, it’s always a good idea to come prepared with a dependable and accurate map. This is definitely true in Dubai, where the lay of the land can be somewhat confusing for the uninitiated. The website for the Dubai Geographic Information Systems Center has a number of good maps that can be downloaded.

Dubai’s public transport system is probably the best in the Middle East, and multi-day passes are available. Small ferries called (abra) service Dubai Creek, and stations are accessible on both the Bur Dubai and Deira sides of the creek.
