What a beautiful place. You should have told me that the tour did NOT include climbing on the glacier.
We loved our tour with Viator to Perito Moreno. Our driver and our guide (sorry don't remember her name) were both great. The guide in particular was just charming and well informed. I would recommend this to anyone.
Probably just as easy to arrange a tour to the glacier once you get to El Calafete. Plenty of choices. The boat ride they stop at before you get to the glacier is not worth it as you can see the glacier just as closely from the walkways and lookouts once you get there.
The tour to the glacier was well run, using comfortable transport and allowing plenty of time to enjoy the amazing views and take the optional boat trip.
My only complaint with the booking was the non-response of the local agent to our attempts to find out the hotel pickup time, as per your advice.
Everything to be viewed here is outstanding and marvellous, however there are a couple of things that should be corrected and then added to the tour final price on Viator: both the payment of the U$20 as entrance fee to the Glaciares National Park and the ship entering the inside glazier area costing U$13 should be included in the whole tour price we pay in order to make things easier as credit cards are not accepted in those 2 places. So the final price at Viator will increase U$ 33 and our life will be much simpler.
Viator should make Argentina much easier to be visited!
Tour guide was so nice and knowledgeable. I didn't have high hopes about being part of a large tour, but it was so well organized and you could do everything at your own pace with no need to be in a group. The only downside is that you aren't provided with a number for the local tour guide. Only a travel office in Buenos Aires. The office personnel were extremely nice and helpful.
The place is wonderful, the crew was very helpful and everything went to time. Just one question remains: we didn't know that it was possible to do an ice trek on the glacier and this option wasn't offered to us by the crew.
It was great. Only negative comment is that we weren't given the option to go mini-trekking for a few hours on the glacier.
The tour was exactly as described, but was very run-of-the-mill. We were picked up my a small mini bus and then joined a large double-decker coach to take us to the glacier. The tour guide was good, but the trip was basically just being driven to the glacier and then left to wander around for 3-4 hours. There was an optional boat trip too, which was an additional cost. There were more interesting trips on offer in El Calafate, including mini-treking on the ice, and I would have prefered the tour to have included this too.
The only thing that would have improved this trip is if there was an option to go ice trekking on the glacier. Other than that - it was great.
