The cruise on Milford Sound is a 'must' for anyone visiting the South Island. Although it is a long trip from Queenstown there and back, it is spectacular scenery. The boat and crew are excellent, the lunch is of very poor quality and not worth the price. Our advice would be to stop somewhere on the way and eat; spend the time on the Sound enjoying the scenery.
Really enjoyed the tour and will definitely recommend it. The Drive was really great and Cruise was amazing . Everything was well organized.
It's a very enjoyable trip. All guides at different segments of the tour did great jobs, especially the naturist.
It's a boring trip not because of the staff who did a good job but because of the scenery was unimpressive especailly comparing to Doubtful Sound.
Great trip. We were well looked after by all the Kiwis who delt with us during the day, from the pick-up bus drivers to the boat crew. Dramatic landscapes and very interesting commentaries. The Kiwis are certainly an hospitable crew. Highy recommend the tour.
had a great time. boat is beautiful, lunch was great. loved dipping into the waterfall and seeing the seals lazing and playing.
Great trip. From coach to boat to coach to boat and back. Very well organized and beautiful scenery.
This is a fantastic experience. In fine weather the sound does not have the spectacular waterfalls but id still awesome to see. We were a bit disappointed with seating arrangements s a tour took all of the window seats when we were having our lunch. The meal was never the less enjoyable. The drive into Milford is also well wothr it as there are several great locations to stop at along the way. We also took the Doubtful Sound Cruise which was equally spectacular. It is well woth the effort to take both cruises.
The coach pick up from the hotel was 30 minutes late so we would have preferred to drive to Manapouri rather than waste time waiting for the coach. There wasn't a great deal of choice of food on the cuises, we bought some sandwiches at the jetty before departure. Coffe and tea was free on the cruises. The cruise to the power station, bus ride and cruise to the Tasman were outstanding! The scenery was spectacular, commentary excelllent and ride very comfortable. We have travelled to many parts of the world and highly recommend this cruise. We also saw a pod of dolphins. Weather was fine when we took the cruise but were told that it was even more spectacular in wet weather with waterfalls all over the mountains. Power station visit was interesting. We also took the Milford Sound cruise and were glad that we did both. Each has something to offer.
Absolutely fantastic- the highlight of our trip to New Zealand- the bus ride to Milford Sound was incredible ( glad we decided not to drive ourselves), great views and excellent commentary. Overnight on the Mariner was excellent- delicious food, comfortable cabins and the commentary from staff was knowledgable and very entertaining. I will never forget our trip to Milford sound- surely one of the wonders of the world.
