A great tour. I would recommend it to everyone. Thanks for a fantastic time. Mike.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our guide Jean was extremely knowledgeable and his passion for the subject shone through. The included lunch was good and ready on the table for our arrival, but would have preferred if they had left lunch covered over as there were flies about! The Last Post ceremony was very moving.
There was a slight hiccup in the pick up times we were told 10.15 and the driver 10am, and another couple were told 9,45 pick up from their stop whereas driver was told 10.15. All in all fantastic day out.
This is a long day but great value with very good unbiased history. So much to see in such a short time. Very moving ceremony at Menin gate. Jan
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave thoughtful presentations. The destinations of the tour, which consisted of cemeteries, actual WWI trenches, museums, attending a remembrance ceremony in Ypres, etc. were well-chosen.
This was the best tour we went on during this trip - the guide was on time, courtious and knowledgable. Our guide gave us a running commentary of all the historical and not so historiacal sites we past or visit during the entire trip. This was further supported by a local expert guide re the battle fields we picked up in Ypres who came fully prepared with photos, maps and diagrams. This expert's knowledge and communication ability was not only enlightening but delivered clearly and effectively. The guide and the expert adjusted the tour to visit areas geared to our country's participation and our interests which further enhanced our knowledge and appreciation of the past events. During our independent time in Ypres we explored the musium and the cathedral as well as the local town area around the Menin Gate. This tour spoiled us for any other tours we took this trip and became our measuring stick (set our expectation levels) for all other tours.
This was the highlight of our trip to Belgium. The guide was excellent and very well informed. He chose the route well and added sights to suit the Canadians and Australians on board and helped us find the names of our relatives at Tyne Cot and on the Menin Gate. The tour was very thought-provoking, as we visited a German Cemetery and a replica of a World war I trench as well as the Commonwealth cemeteries. The emotional climax was attending the last post at the Menin Gate. We couldn't have done all this by ourselves. We saw and learnt such a lot. We highly recommend this tour.
A very emotional day! The enormity of the sacrifice made by our Canadian and Allied Veterans is at once poignantly obvious. We are so proud of Canada's contributions and of the spectacular war memorial erected in honour of these brave people who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Our Parisian driver and our very knowledgeable guide from Belgium made this trip a most educational and enjoyable day.
After two weeks of touring Europe, this was by far the best day trip we took. The tour guide was not only extremely knowledgeable, but also had a great interest in WWI. It was a small group, 16 people, which made it more enjoyable. The guide was willing to adjust the tour a bit to make sure we saw all the monuments that interested us.
The trip was a highlight for personal reasons too. We found our great-grandfather's grave at Vladslo. Another man on the trip also got to experience where his father fought in WWI, It was a moving experience for all.
This was a long day, but well worth it. The walking isn't too extensive, especially when compared to other tours we've been on. If you have an interest in history or WWI, this is a don't miss!
A great tour for history buffs, and a good way to get a taste of the Ypree Belgium area. Excellent guide with a very small group.
What an informative and interesting day spent on Tour of Flanders this August 1 2013. Our guide was very informed and certainly knowledeable on the events of 1914 - 1918 and much preceeding history. We were especially thrilled to have the opportunity to visit Hill 62 the site almost 100 years ago where my husbands father and many other Canadian soldiers attacked and were successful. Our guide made every effort to visit spots that were especially important to the visitors, where time allowed. Thank you for an emotional and interesting day we won't soon forget. The MacGregor's
This tour was excellent and the Guide too was excellent. The information he was able to give at each stop was second to none. He really knew his history and was able to answer any question asked. The lunch we had at the Passchendaele Cheese House was second to none with plenty to eat and served well by the staff.
It was a long day (we are warned in your Tour info it was an 11 hour day) and some of us "oldies" were flagging towards the end but said it was worth every penny. Unfortunately, the tour we had to Luxembourg on 7 July was not good. The guide left a lot to be desired and that will be reviewed by my travel companion Joan Casey who booked it and who will give you more details when she submits her review. This tour restored our faith in Viator. We did let the office in Brussels know of our feelings of being let down by the LuLuxembourg tour.
Fantastic! Took my 14 year old daughter. Excellent trip, comfortable air conditioned coach, very knowledgeable, informative guide. saw far more than we expected. Excellent Lunch included at a delightful restaurant. Would highly recommend this trip.
Very educational and VERY moving. Excellent tour guide - Jean.
Highly recommended to realize the foolish sacrifice of so many young lives and that it mostly took place within a 15 mile radius.
The whole day was wonderful. Our guide was exceptional. The Last Post ceremony in Ypres was moving and memorable. It was definitely worth a long tour day to have this experience.
The tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable. The sites were great but became a bit overwhelming about 3/4 of the way through the 13 hour tour. The weather was quite hot so a bottle or two of water is a good idea. It was an amazing feeling seeing those places where soldiers fought and died. The sites are very well maintained and an atmosphere of deep respect pervades. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in history. The day cam to a perfect ending with the last post at the Menin gate in Ypres.
