The location is the Städel Museum, the city’s foremost art institution. It’s somewhat unusual among major art museums in that it has everything from old masters to contemporary works under one roof. But things were getting pretty crowded under that roof, so after exploring the options they decided to extend underground, a development designed by Frankfurt firm schneider+schumacher.
