The tours of the castles were good. Would have liked more history on Munich. Our stay in Hohenschwangau was lovely. Very little information was given on the towns as we drove up the romantic road. Would have liked a tour guide or at least a pamphlet with historical information on each town we visited and a map of each town we stopped in.
Long bus rides and few stops in-between. If I had known what this was I would have rented a car and done it on my own. The only good thing about the tour was the hotel stays.
The trip was well planned and delivered. I am satisfied about the arrangement in general, and found the tourist attractions matching my expectations, so it is a good trip worth the value and travel involved. I have the following comments regarding the travel arrangement I experienced , they may be useful for the future improvement of this type of tour: 1. The full package of itinerary and vouchers are received too late, on the second stop, I prefer to receive it before the start of the tour, so I'll have more understand on how it will work, and less uncertainty. 2. The bus drivers have different level of service standard. The driver from the Rothenburg to Frankfurt is really professional and helpful, although only two small stops, but he advised us of the where about of the closest rest rooms etc, very friendly. But I have concerns about the driver from Hohenschwangau to Rothenburg. Firstly, his bus is very noisy and vibrating a lot, the whole trip is not comfortable, the bus clearly needs service check to solve the excessive noise and vibrating problem, second, when the bus arrived in Rothenburg, he is busy calling the office to report the bus, and did not pay attention to call taxi to pick up me. On that day, I waited 20-30 minutes, no taxi appeared to pick me to the hotel, and the driver refused to answer my question about the taxi, it is very unpleasant experience. Finally, I called the taxi company with the help of a local person to request a taxi, and after the call, a taxi arrived finally. I found the driver should at least contact the taxi company to acertain the taxi arrival.
Great trip! It was mainly a tour on your own with set transportation schedule and hotel arrangements made. Night watchman tour was great!
We were very disappointed. We returned early by catching a train back to Frankfurt. Expected a guided tour. Not to be left to our own devices.
This was a great tour. The Nightwatchman's Tour of the town was brilliant and very amusing. Wuld recommend to anyone. Rothenburg is a lovely town.
When I received my package of info and it said 'unaccompanied' tour I was afraid it was just bus transportation. I didn't realize the bus driver would narrate the trip and that we would stop at small towns along the way. Rothenburg was great and well worth the trip. Four hours was not nearly enough time to spend there but if you only have one day to spend this is a great way to do it.
Not quiet what i expected. The tour takes you down the "romantic route" and stops very quickly at a few cities along the way and then ends in Rothenburg. Rothenburg is lovely but not a must see if time is limited.
We were added to a day tour to neuschwanstein and left behind at a hotel when the tour returned to munich. The next day we were dropped at a bus stop which returned to munich and then continued to rothenburg with 30 second taped explanantions as we drove by different towns. The stops were just the 15 minute bathroom or lunch breaks that a normal bus would take so that's all we saw of any towns we stopped at. The hotel exterior was under construction and did not have ac in the rooms. We couldn't open the windows because the workers were on scaffolding walking in front of the windows. There was only one stop rothenburg to frankfurt and it was at an outlet mall to pick up 6 tourists. I would not call this a tour and would not reccoemend it.
Rothenburg and the bed and breakfast overnight at Rothenburg were wonderful. The bus ride to Rothenburg was good. The bus ride to Frankfurt was not good. The driver was late; the ride was fast; the one promised stop was not done; and the other stop was quick and I almost got left behind just standing next to the bus! The driver on the last leg to Frankfurt did not count passengers before leaving and the stops were brief. Furthermore, I did not like it when the driver to Frankfurt was hitting on a female passenger in front of the passengers. So because of the low class actions of your driver, it was not a great ride.
This was a great trip. It got more beautiful at every stop. Hotels were very good. I was amazed that nothing went wrong on our entire trip.
W e really enjoyed this trip. Everything was very well organized and went exactly to plan. The hotels were stayed in for the 3 nights were all excellent and staff helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were excellent. Really enjoyed visiting the 2 castles on the first day. Be aware that the second day is mainly a travel day with about 3 small breaks along the way. However the following day you have plenty of time to explore Rothenburg. The night watchemen is very entertaining. The Heidelberg 1/2 day tour gives a brief overview of the city. Would recommend this tour for other people as we really enjoyed it,
