Celebrating 100 years in operation and still on the rails, the heroic Train des Pignes passes through 25 tunnels, over 16 viaducts and 15 metallic bridges in the mountainous areas of the Alpes-Maritimes region. Run by the Railways of Provence, the Puget-Rostang eco-museum has a 100th Anniversary exhibition on the remarkable Train des Pignes. Construction started in 1883, and the line connecting Nice and Digne opened in 1911 in a truly amazing feat of engineering.
